Ihoma Healthcare is widely recognized throughout Washington, DC for designing sensory rooms that go beyond traditional expectations. Our multidisciplinary team—comprised of occupational therapists, behavioral specialists, and assistive technology professionals—works collaboratively to create personalized sensory environments tailored to the unique needs of each individual we serve.

Each sensory room is thoughtfully designed to incorporate innovative technology that allows individuals to control and adapt their surroundings, promoting comfort, engagement, and self-regulation. By integrating clinical expertise with smart environmental controls, we create spaces that support both therapeutic goals and everyday well-being.

For individuals receiving services through the Medicaid Waiver program, Ihoma Healthcare also offers free in-home consultations. During these visits, our specialists assess the environment, discuss individual needs, and explore how customized sensory solutions can enhance independence, regulation, and quality of life.

For decades, people with disabilities have had to “spend down” assets to keep essential benefits.

In 2026, that changes.

The ABLE eligibility expansion from age 26 to 46 is the largest shift in disability financial empowerment since the original law passed — opening the door for millions more individuals to save without risking critical supports.

In this video, we break down what this expansion means, why it matters, and how families, providers, and self-advocates should prepare for this historic shift.

This is more than policy — it’s a move from spend-down to save-up.

“Embracing Consistency: How Small Steps Create Significant Change” is an inspiring short video that highlights the power of steady, intentional effort. Rather than focusing on dramatic breakthroughs, the video shows how meaningful progress is built through small, repeatable actions that compound over time.

Today, Ihoma Healthcare joins the nation — and the world — in mourning the passing of Jesse Jackson, a towering figure in the civil rights movement and a lifelong advocate for justice, equity, and human dignity.

Rev. Jackson dedicated his life to ensuring that those who were marginalized, overlooked, or underestimated were seen, heard, and valued. His powerful affirmation, “I Am Somebody,” became more than a chant — it became a declaration of identity, worth, and inherent human value.

At Ihoma Healthcare, that message resonates deeply.

Every day, we serve individuals with developmental disabilities who may have been told — directly or indirectly — that they are less capable, less deserving, or less seen. But our mission stands firmly aligned with Rev. Jackson’s declaration:

You are somebody.
Your voice matters.
Your goals matter.
Your independence matters.

Rev. Jackson also reminded us that “If my mind can conceive it, and my heart can believe it — then I can achieve it.” That spirit mirrors our commitment to person-centered care, assistive technology innovation, and empowering individuals to pursue meaningful lives on their own terms.

At Ihoma Healthcare, we do not treat diagnoses — we support people.
We do not define individuals by limitations — we design environments, technologies, and supports that unlock possibilities.

The legacy of Jesse Jackson challenges us to continue building systems that promote dignity, inclusion, and opportunity for all — including individuals with disabilities who deserve full participation in their communities.

As we reflect on his life, we recommit ourselves to the belief that every person we serve is not just a client, not just a case, not just a number —

They are somebody.

And at Ihoma Healthcare, somebody is always treated with respect, innovation, and care.
