The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is the nation’s largest grassroots organization dedicated to building better lives for persons and their families who are affected by mental illness. Founded in 1979, NAMI has affiliates in every state across the country and the District of Columbia. NAMI members and partners work to fulfill the mission by providing advocacy, research, support and education. NAMI provides free education and support for program participants; promotes awareness and understanding of mental health conditions and mental illness related stigma; and advocates for greater access to quality mental health services, more employment opportunities, and affordable housing. NAMI Prince George’s County, is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. As the local affiliate, we serve as the “County’s Voice on Mental Illness.”
