A day of recognition in more ways than one. ❤️

Heart disease in women does not always look like what we expect. It is not always crushing chest pain or left arm discomfort. The symptoms can be subtle, different, and easy to overlook. Knowing that matters. Awareness saves lives.

On Tuesday, February 10, 2026, we were honored to reunite with a patient alongside Palm Harbor Fire Rescue after a cardiac event that progressed from a heart attack to cardiac arrest. Through the rapid response, clinical excellence, and teamwork of the Palm Harbor firefighters and Sunstar Paramedics — Paramedic Casey Schmidt and EMT Dominic DiRienz — this patient was given a second chance at life.

The continuum of care provided by our hospital partners ensured a strong recovery and a positive prognosis. Because of that seamless collaboration, this patient can continue to cherish family time, return to work, and embrace the everyday moments that matter most.

This is what partnership looks like. 🤝

On Friday, February 6, 2026, Sunstar Paramedics experienced another powerful moment of purpose. 💛🚑

We are grateful to our community partners — Madeira Beach Fire Department, HCA Florida Largo Hospital, and Pinellas County Communications — for the opportunity to reunite with a patient we cared for during a cardiac arrest.

Thanks to rapid bystander CPR and exceptional professional care, this patient was able to stand before his rescuers and personally express his gratitude. 🙌❤️ It was wonderful to share laughter and tears of joy together.

The Chain of Survival truly works. ⛓️ Every link — from the first call to definitive care — matters, and when each link is strong, lives are saved.

👏 A special congratulations to Paramedic Corey Grahn, EMT Ava Pavlik, and Paramedic Anthony Doll for a job exceptionally well done. Your clinical excellence, teamwork, and dedication made all the difference.

You are true superstars, and we could not be more proud. ⭐🚑

This week the Florida Ambulance Association honored our incredible class of 2026 Stars of Life! Our Stars were recognized on the floor of the Florida House of Representatives, celebrated at our annual awards banquet, and then had the opportunity to meet with many of their state legislators at the state Capitol!

Congratulations to Robert Lanoue and Dana Shultz for being recognized as Sunstar Paramedics 2026 Stars of Life.

🚑 Moments That Matter. Care That Saves Lives. 💙

A moment of recognition for caregivers who rise to the occasion at a moment’s notice. The Pinellas County Osteopathic Medical Society (PCOMS) invited Sunstar Paramedics—alongside our EMS partners, St. Petersburg Fire Rescue and Lealman Fire Rescue—for two special calls of note.

👏 Paramedic Alyssa Forrester was recognized for her exceptional attention to detail on a call that began as an altered mental status and ultimately led to the identification of a traumatic skull fracture. Her critical thinking and persistence ensured the patient received both immediate and definitive care, resulting in a positive outcome.

❤️ Paramedic James Strobel and EMT Joel Oviedo were recognized for their swift action and professionalism during a cardiac arrest. Working seamlessly with our EMS partners, their fast and efficient care helped revive the patient—truly giving them another lease on life.

Sunstar Paramedics is incredibly proud of our frontline professionals and grateful to PCOMS for recognizing the consistent dedication, skill, and compassion our crews bring to every call. 🚑💪

December CAREPLUS Recognition 💙

Today, we honor an incredible team effort that truly reflects the heart of Sunstar EMS.

A huge thank-you to:
PM Stephanie Chaiser, EMT John Ratliff, PM Anastacya Carey, EMT Noah Ngimbi, FOS Alexandra Muhsltadt, and FOS Michelle Wright.

These crews responded to an extremely difficult call involving a young expectant mother experiencing serious complications. While still on the phone, she delivered at just 22 weeks gestation, and a second Sunstar unit (SS502/SS504) was quickly added to assist. Together, they ensured seamless care for both the baby and a smooth, safe transport for the mother.

Given the patient’s history, this was an especially emotional and challenging call, but every team member showed professionalism, compassion, and grace throughout. Largo Fire Department even took the time to commend the crews for their outstanding conduct.

We don’t get to choose the calls we run, but moments like this show exactly who we are. This team demonstrated the heart, skill, and teamwork that define Sunstar EMS. Well done, everyone. 💙🚑
