๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Honoring Our Heroes โ€“ Both in Uniform and in Service ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

This week, weโ€™re preparing a special delivery for some very special members of our Sunstar family. ๐ŸŽ–๏ธ

Our Sunstar Veteran Hats are being packed up and made ready to present to every team member who has proudly served our great country.

Weโ€™re deeply thankful for the men and women who have worn the uniform
and continue to serve their community every day through their work here at Sunstar Paramedics.

From all of us: THANK YOU for your dedication, your courage, and your continued service to others. ๐Ÿ’™โค๏ธ๐Ÿค

On November 4th, our incredible Clinical Team kicked off this yearโ€™s first Triad of Life class at St. Petersburg High School!

A group of dedicated health education students received
hands-on training in three life-saving skills:

โœ… Bystander CPR
โœ… Bleeding Control
โœ… Narcan Administration

Next up, these students will be coached on how to confidently present these skills to an audience, empowering them to teach their peers and spread vital knowledge throughout their school community.

Weโ€™re proud to support the next generation of health leaders and educators!

๐Ÿš‘ Crew Recognition & Community Partnership ๐Ÿค

Before the sun even rose, Pinellas County EMS received a call for help โ€” someone was without a pulse and not breathing. Responding to the call were Paramedic James Strobel and EMT Joel Oviedo, working alongside St. Petersburg Fire Rescue and Lealman Fire Rescue.

Upon arrival, they found the patient already in the care of an off-duty Registered Nurse who had performed over 1,000 chest compressions, keeping the odds of survival at its peak. With continued Basic and Advanced Life Support measures, the patient was transported to HCA Florida Northside Hospital for further care.

Thanks to the teamwork and dedication of everyone involved โ€” from the bystander nurse to EMS, fire rescue, and hospital staff โ€” the patient made a full recovery. ๐Ÿ’™

On October 29th, 2025, we came together to celebrate life and the strength of our Chain of Survival. There were smiles, tears, and a shared reminder of why Pinellas County is such a special place to live, work, and receive care in an emergency.

๐Ÿ‘ Thank you to our community partners, and congratulations to Paramedic James Strobel and EMT Joel Oviedo โ€” weโ€™re incredibly proud of your dedication and compassion!

On July 13, our Critical Care Team showed what it truly means to serve with heart. ๐Ÿ’™๏ฟฝ

During a deeply emotional transport from St. Anthonyโ€™s to St. Josephโ€™s for ECMO care, our crew treated a patient who was also family to two of our own.

Mr. Royce was known for his warmth, love of family, and passion for LEGOโ€™s. Though he passed away three days later, our teamโ€™s compassion gave his loved ones three more precious days together, a gift theyโ€™ll never forget.

The Royce family later visited to personally thank the crew, sharing a heartfelt moment of remembrance and gratitude.

To our CCT teamโ€ฆ thank you for your compassion, professionalism, and humanity. You remind us that true care goes far beyond medicine. ๐Ÿš‘๐Ÿ’™

Congratulations to the crew of Paramedic K. Nelson and EMT H. Enstall! ๐ŸŒŸ They are the October 2025 CarePlus Award winner!

Over the past month, they were part of two very different but equally meaningful incidents alongside our EMS partners.

On the first call, what began as a simple โ€œlift assistโ€ turned out to be much more. They encountered a sweet 95-year-old woman who, though normally independent, was having a tough day while her caregiver was away. Nelson and Enstall went above and beyond โ€” preparing her a meal, helping her to the bathroom, changing her clothes, and staying until her caregiver returned. Their compassion and patience never wavered. ๐Ÿ’›

Later that evening, they again responded with the same EMS partners to a call involving a male patient struggling with personal challenges and attempting to use EMS for transportation. Rather than react with frustration, Nelson and Enstall approached the situation with empathy and professionalism. They took time to listen, educate, and guide him toward a safe and appropriate solution โ€” even arranging an Uber to ensure he got home safely. ๐Ÿš‘

While these moments may seem small in the big picture, they represent the heart of patient advocacy. One patient was fed, comforted, and treated with dignity; another was supported and educated with respect and understanding.

These are the quiet acts of kindness that define who we are. ๐Ÿ’™
