✨ A clarification about Food Is Medicine ✨
We want to take a moment to offer clarity — and to apologize for any confusion caused by our earlier posts.
The Food Is Medicine program is currently funded through New Mexico Medicaid, which means there are specific eligibility guidelines set by the state. At this time, the program is available to people who are:
1. Enrolled in New Mexico Medicaid, and
2. Currently pregnant and diagnosed with diabetes (type 1, type 2, or gestational), OR
3. Enrolled in Medicaid under the Community Benefit category (generally meaning they receive long-term or in-home support services)
We know these limits don’t reflect the full range of people who deserve nourishment and care — and we’re truly sorry for any confusion or false hope our earlier messaging may have created.
💛 Here’s what we want you to know:
If you’re interested in Food Is Medicine but don’t currently qualify, we still encourage you to fill out our interest form. We are actively building a waiting list and seeking funding to expand this program beyond current Medicaid criteria.
As new opportunities become available, we’ll be reaching out to folks on that list first.
Thank you for your patience, your trust, and for being in community with us as we work to grow what’s possible.
