SawaSawa Organic Farm is a vibrant, community-based initiative in Las Cruces, New Mexico, dedicated to organic agriculture, healthy living, and sustainable practices. My traditional diet as an Elgon Maasai from Mt. Elgon’s slopes consisted primarily of milk, meat, and blood. When I arrived in the United States, I had to adjust to a different diet, which resulted in significant weight loss and a longing for home. Faced with this obstacle, I started farming vegetables to feed myself. What began as a necessity quickly grew into a passion for organic farming, and thus SawaSawa Organic was founded. The name ‘SawaSawa,’ which means ‘good’ in Swahili, represents our commitment to excellent health, good food, and a sustainable future. Sawasawa Organic Farm
