FACTS! Between 2019-2024, New Mexico was the only state in the nation to lose practicing physicians, and our medical malpractice system is a major cause of that problem. Encourage your legislators to reform New Mexico's medical malpractice laws! Please contact your legislators that our beautiful state needs Medical Malpractice reform similar to our surrounding states so that we can keep and recruit physicians to New Mexico! This in turn will provide better access to care for ALL patients! To easily contact your legislators you can click on the link below, scroll down to "Reform New Mexico's medical malpractice law", then click the take action button and a letter will be drafted for you to send to the legislators that are supposed to represent YOU!

An independent OB/GYN practicing in New Mexico pays an average of $102,089 per year for their medical malpractice insurance premium. That rate is much higher than NM's neighboring states.

The system needs reform to not only recruit new providers, but to also retain the ones we have left.
