A very vulnerable post as I only show my progress photos to family!

A year ago today I set my foot on a path that changed my life. I started the pre-diet for surgery.

I had no idea how I was going to survive on less than 500 calories a day for this prep. I had no idea how hard it was going to be to change everything I know about eating. I had no idea how much it would affect my food preferences. I had no idea that it would impact my mental being. I had no idea that it was going to be the best decision I have ever made in my entire life.

I have not regretted this decision for ONE SECOND even in the midst of dumping spells, vomiting, bloating, the awful post op liquid diet.

148 pounds in 365 days. I have a long way to go but I never in my wildest dreams thought I would get this far.

Forget what everyone says and thinks and do what is best for you. I’ll say it again for the people in the back, DO WHAT IS BEST FOR YOU.

The only person who is going to get you where you need to be is YOU.

Count your non-scale victories! Being able to cross your legs again, being able to buckle the airplane seatbelt, getting out of the bathtub by yourself, maybe you no longer have to turn sideways to fit into a narrow space. Celebrate it all!

One thing you'll need at the hospital is a robe. This could be your favorite robe, but I love this waffle spa robe. Within an hour of waking up, the hospital staff gets you walking. They want you walk out any cramping and gas from the air that they pump into you and also from anesthesia. Also, walking is crucial to prevent blood clots. Don't bother changing out of your hospital gown, get the robe to cover the fine china. Even after surgery, I still use it. Get it as big and comfy as you want. Link below!

Number one must have when going to the hospital!
For those who haven't had an abdominal surgery before, when you are on the operating table, your abdomen gets pumped full of air so your organs are easier for the surgeon to access. Obviously, what goes in must come out. When you wake up, you have to cough all that air and anesthesia out. Whether you are coughing or trying to get out of bed, our abdominal muscles are hard at work. Typically I would have to have someone hold a pillow down on my abdomen to cough, but this abdominal binder is a life saver so that you can cough a little more comfortably and be a bit more independent by not having to rely on someone to haul you up from a lying position. I found this awesome wrap on Amazon! Link below to add to cart! You can also access by going to my website fatslimchick.com
