🚨 CMS UPDATE – SKIN SUBSTITUTES 🚨

Today, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services withdrew the LCDs for certain skin substitutes that were scheduled to start January 1, 2026 for DFUs and VLUs.

This is not a green light. It’s a pause.
Translation:
If your wound care program isn’t education-driven, documentation-tight, and compliance-ready, you’re not prepared for 2026.

This is exactly why you should focus on doing wound care the right way.

I read this piece on why nurse leaders should invest in wound‐care training, and it couldn’t be more timely. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services changes, rising costs of chronic wounds, and pressure on outcomes mean that wound care education isn’t optional anymore.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗲:
• The data: pressure injuries still affect millions and cost institutions tens of thousands per case.
