Crash Responder Safety Week 2025: November 17-21 -

The Crash Responder Safety Week (CRSW) affords a unique opportunity for every Traffic Incident Management (TIM) community member to make a difference individually and jointly for roadway safety during traffic incidents. National, state, and local organizations can be a CRSW Ally in Action by sharing how your organization promoted CRSW in year 2024. Upload your organization’s logo through the CRSW Ally in Action form to be featured through future CRSW outreach efforts.

2025 is the 10th year that Federal, State, and local agencies have come together for CRSW. The theme for the 2025 CRSW is "Safety Starts With You – Slow Down and Move Over!" Review the CRSW 2025 Outreach Toolkit to learn more about social media messaging and other key resources. The day-of-week social media themes coordinated by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Program and the National CRSW Committee.

About Zero Fatalities:

Nevada’s Zero Fatalities Program is all about eliminating fatalities on Nevada roadways. Some people may think zero is an impossible goal, but when it comes to your family and friends, what other number would be acceptable? We're aiming for zero because everyone matters. The road to zero targets key behaviors like buckling up, being pedestrian and motorcycle safe, eliminating impaired driving, focusing on the road, and stopping on red.

Capurro Trucking up in Carlin, NV is helping with NGM, NDOT, & others on a community clean-up activity. Please review below the details below:

We will be conducting our highway cleanup:

Thursday 9/25/25 8am – noon
State Route 306 Eureka County MM 17.93 – 20.43
Basically 306 from I80 to Horseshoe Ranch

NDOT will place the signs for our cleanup. Any law enforcement presence is much appreciated while we have people on the ground. Anyone available from the Capurro side other groups are welcome as well.

I spoke with Sam at NGM. They are doing their cleanup on 306 Eureka County MM 6-8 from 1pm – 3pm. We will probably do our cleanup and then join them for their section. We will have a dump trailer and clean up our bags and if room, NGM’s as well.

Safety is number 1 while we are doing the cleanup. We will avoid areas that are blind spots for traffic and other hazards to be discussed before commencement. I’m excited to serve our community – Thanks everyone!

This past week in Carlin, NV on September 4, 2025, Capurro Trucking in Carlin hosted a Truck Rodeo. This event was well attended and the whole Capurro Trucking Team did a great job as they both assisted with the rodeo and participated in the rodeo. The activities at the rodeo included a "Golden Egg" challenge, driver written exam, DVIR exercise, and an railroad crossing exercise. Below are some pictures of the rodeo. Thank you to all who helped out with this very worthwhile event. Grateful for all of the efforts, talents, and sacrifice of time to ensure that this event was a success. Any questions or comments on the rodeo, please contact Cassie Delbridge at Capurro Trucking at cassie@capurrotrucking.com

SHRP2 TIM Training classes were held on September 5, 2025. There was a 9:00 am class as well as 5:00 pm. These classes were well attended with 40 people attending from various First Responder agencies and companies. Thanks to Cassie Delbridge for helping to coordinate the participants as well as helping to instruct.

Great job by all on both activities.

REMINDER -

There will be the 2025 Truck Rodeo sponsored by Capurro Trucking held in Carlin NV. Below are details:

We are pleased to announce the date of the annual truck rodeo. What’s a truck rodeo? It is an event with different categories geared toward truck drivers. We also have the mechanics rodeo at the same time with events for the shop staff. We change the events every year and are open to suggestions or ideas. We usually have a pre-trip station that NHP runs, a written test, and skills. Some of the past skills were the “golden egg challenge” where a driver had to pull up to a cone and get as close as they can without knocking an egg off the cone, or flatbed alley docking, a timed figure 8 with doubles, and backing up with doubles. We have an exciting new event this year this year involving a railroad crossing thanks to our friends at Rail Aware!

After the rodeo, we will head to the Carlin City Park for a BBQ, prizes, and relaxing. We do this in conjunction with National Truck Driver Appreciation Week to thank our hard-working staff for everything they do. We will not have the normal Carlin or Battle Mtn Safety Meetings this month as we do the truck rodeo instead. This event is meant to be fun, encourage safety, teambuilding, skill building and to say thank you.

Last year, we had separate rodeos for dayshift and nightshift. It was less disruptive for the employee’s work schedules and sleep patterns. Everyone will meet for lunch at the park. Dayshift will do the rodeo in the morning before lunch and nightshift will do the rodeo after lunch. We will present separate awards for dayshift, nightshift, and mechanics at the October Annual Refresher Training.

Thursday September 4, 2025 Schedule:
- Day shift Rodeo: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
- BBQ: 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm
- Night shift Rodeo: 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Location of the Rodeo:
Capurro Trucking Carlin Shop
924 Poplar St
Carlin, NV 89822

Location for BBQ:
Carlin City Park
182 B St,
Carlin, NV 89822

Lunch will be provided. Peterbilt Truck Parts and Equipment has generously volunteered to serve tri-tip and beans. We will serve other sides, dessert, chips, soda, and water. We have several sponsors for prizes. It should be a fun event! It is normally very hot. If it is raining or lightning, we will have lunch at the Carlin Shop instead of the park. Bring chairs if you like. We will have some tables, chairs, and picnic tables at the park.

Please let me know if you have questions, comments, ideas, or concerns. I’m excited to gather for some team building, safety, and fun. Families are welcome to attend the BBQ. Happy Truck Driver Appreciation Week! We appreciate you! – Cassie 775-934-0654
