Many people know my counseling agency, Illuminations Counseling and Homestead Counseling, as well as my work with United Providers of Mental Health, the CARE Coalition, and Positively Inspired Community Outreach (don't forget to LIKE these pages too). However, many people are unaware of what I do beyond my clinical work in Clinical Psychology, addictions counseling, and neurofeedback training. I help people find balance in their life through positivity, meditation, and mind-body balance, whether it is with their lifestyle, academic or professional ideals, and business goals. I have also presented in many forums and avenues, including symposiums, camps, schools, staff development training, and several seminars. This weekend was the Civic Center / Goodman Plaza grand opening as well as Employee Appreciation Day… but I called it “Take your Mom to work day” instead 😜. My mom was so excited to get her picture with Mayor Berkeley. And I was so happy to get to introduce her to my amazing team who really do make my life a lot more fun at work.

It’s funny how the colleagues you’ve done work with in the community for years become some of your closest friends….
These are just a couple of pictures. I didn’t take as many pictures last night since I was on the mic most of the conference. But the venue, the people, and our mission to work towards change was as beautiful and bright as we envisioned.

Every September we host the annual “Embracing Life as Women” (ELAW) conference. No, it’s not just a “women’s conference” but a space to highlight the work that we do around women, children, and families who have to endure mental health and substance misuse challenges. We emphasize that women and mothers in recovery should not be labeled as the “bad” person while trying to care for themselves and their children. We praise and highlight the caregivers, providers, and community heroes who make an impact in the lives of babies and children born with an addiction. We embrace the opportunity to come together in a safe and compassionate space. This is ELAW.

A fun article that I wrote for one of the City departments who highlight health and wellness in their day-to-day. Most of my writings don’t sound like this, but it was actually fun to adapt tot he personality of this department. Workplace wellness is so important.

When two 7-year olds decide to do a photo shoot for me, I say “Sure!!” These girls even synchronized the bubbles while older sister took the pictures… and made me look decent for once! 😜
