What happens when you mix social media and OCD?

Social platforms can be a great place to learn and find community. Many creators are doing an awesome job spreading awareness and reducing stigma.

However, OCD is a complex mental health condition and it can’t be fully captured in a single reel or post.

Symptoms can look different from person to person, and what helps one individual may not be helpful (or may even be harmful) for someone else.

If you’re learning about OCD online, use social content as a starting point, not a diagnosis or treatment plan. When in doubt, seek guidance from a licensed mental health professional who understands OCD and evidence-based care.

OCD is like a faulty smoke detector 🚨

It goes off loudly even when there’s no fire.

The alarm feels urgent and real, but the danger isn’t.

ERP helps you learn how to respond differently when the alarm goes off.

Breaking down therapy terms into simple language. 🤍

Window of tolerance is the space where your nervous system feels safe, regulated, and able to handle life’s stressors.

Knowing when you’re outside this window helps you respond with compassion instead of criticism and seek tools that help.

Freedom begins with acceptance.

With OCD and anxiety, the goal isn’t to eliminate intrusive thoughts or argue with them. The more we fight, the louder they often become.

• Allow the thought to be there
• Notice it without judgment
• Choose not to engage or seek certainty

When you stop treating thoughts as threats, they lose their power. Healing comes from making space, not from control.

OCD is not a personality trait.

It isn’t about being “super organized” or “a perfectionist.”

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is a real mental health condition that involves intrusive thoughts, compulsive behaviors, anxiety, and distress. Not quirks or preferences.

Using OCD as an adjective minimizes the experiences of those who live with it every day.
Let’s talk about it with accuracy and compassion. 💛

Anxiety vs Intuition ⬇️

It can be confusing when you can’t tell the difference between anxiety and what you “really” want.

Intuition feels calm and steady, it’s a quiet inner knowing shaped by lived experience, emotional awareness, and subtle cues your body picks up. It’s grounded, present, and connected.

Anxiety feels loud and urgent, it’s a voice fueled by fear, intrusive thoughts, and “what if” spirals. It pulls you into worst-case scenarios and disconnects you from what’s actually happening.
