On this presentation about risk mitigation strategies for patients with access to fi****ms, we were reminded that means safety is not political, it is clinical. Firearm access changes outcomes in moments of crisis, especially when suicidal thoughts are impulsive and brief. Creating time and distance can be lifesaving.

As psychiatrists, assessing access is part of responsible risk assessment. The goal is not judgment or confiscation, but harm reduction, safety planning, and protecting patients during their most vulnerable moments.

The physicians advocated for support of bills that are critical to increasing access to psychiatric care in Nevada, such as GME expansion and integrated care.
