With Thanksgiving coming up, we wanted to remind you that not everyone has a "Happy" Thanksgiving. As a matter of fact the holidays are the hardest time of the year for some of us.
If Thanksgiving feels heavy — whether you’re grieving, lonely, or just overwhelmed — you’re not alone. Here are a few gentle reminders that might help you through the day:
If you’re feeling lonely:
• Make your own plans — a cozy meal, a walk, or a favorite movie.
• Reach out — text, call, or join a virtual hangout. Connection counts, even in small ways.
• Create new rituals that feel right for you.
If family gatherings are stressful:
• Set boundaries ahead of time — it’s okay to protect your peace.
• Step away if you need to breathe or reset.
• Spend time with the people who make you feel safe and seen.
If you’re missing someone:
• Acknowledge the loss — it’s okay to feel sad today.
• Honor their memory in your own way: a candle, a favorite recipe, a story shared.
• Be gentle with yourself — grief and love often sit side by side.
If the day just feels overwhelming:
• Simplify everything. You don’t have to do it all.
• Take a few deep breaths and find one small comfort — a pet, a song, a warm drink.
• Remember, it’s okay to take care of you first.
However you spend the day, know that you’re doing your best — and that’s enough. ❤️
