Did you know your medical record works very much like your credit report. Everything you see a doctor for goes into a permanent health record that is distributed to many different parties who you will never see who make decisions to pay or not pay your bill to your doctor, rate the cost of insurance, and decide whether or not to grant additional benefits in the future.

What most people also do not know is that there can be multiple errors on your health record. This includes mis diagnosis's, overcharging, also referred to as upcoding, being billed for procedures, or testing you never received, and a host of other errors. With the average percentage of healthcare claims nearing 70% that have at least one error on them, it is no wonder, insurance companies view many of us as "sick" and sicker than we actually are.

An estimated 41% of adults face health-care debt. Approximately 16 million people in the U.S. owe over $1,000 in medical debt and 3 million people owe medical debt of more than $10,000. Medical debt occurs across all demographic groups.

These statistics are staggering and although it may feel good to know you are not alone, it doesn't make facing these problems any easier.
