The Heart Beat Confirmation 💎✨

During the heartbeat confirmation ultrasound, the physician is looking for three specific signs that tell us the journey is progressing.

The Gestational Sac: This is the very first sign of pregnancy visible on an ultrasound. It is the fluid-filled structure that surrounds the developing embryo.

The Yolk Sac: Found inside the gestational sac, this provides essential nutrients to the embryo before the placenta is fully formed. Seeing a healthy yolk sac is a great indicator of early pregnancy wellness.

The Fetal Pole: This is the first direct visualization of the embryo itself. It is a thickening on the edge of the yolk sac where the baby is growing, and it’s where the heartbeat is officially detected!

In most surrogacy journeys, the clinic will schedule at least two separate Beta tests, usually 48 hours apart. Here is why:

Establishing a Baseline: The first test confirms that the embryo has successfully implanted.

Tracking Growth: The second test is often the most important because the clinic is looking for that HCG number to approximately double.

Confirmation: Seeing those numbers rise steadily is the clinical way of confirming that the pregnancy is progressing as it should in these very early stages.
