Charting the Future of Care: Leveraging GUIDE, Medicare, Medicaid & NYS Programs for Sustainable Aging Support

This program equipped attendees with practical, real world tools to:
• Explain Medicare coverage options and enrollment
• Understand emerging dementia care models, including the CMS GUIDE Model
• Apply NY Medicaid rules in care planning
• Strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration and client advocacy

By participating, Diane and Sherrie strengthened their expertise to better support older adults, caregivers, and families…ensuring our team remains at the forefront of aging services.

What does the future of aging in New York look like?
Leaders gathered in Albany this week to start turning vision into action.

On March 10th, our Vice President, Diane Mickle Gotebiowski attended a special policy luncheon at the Legislative Office Building in Albany focused on the future of aging in New York State.
Hosted by City & State New York and AARP New York, the forum, “Live from the Well: We Have the Master Plan for Aging. Now What?” brought together leaders, policymakers, and advocates to discuss how to turn the state’s new Master Plan for Aging into real action.
The conversation focused on immediate steps lawmakers can take within the state budget to begin implementing key priorities that support older New Yorkers and family caregivers.
The event opened with remarks from Beth Finkel, followed by a dynamic roundtable featuring:
• Senator Cordell Cleare, Chair, Committee on Aging
• Assembly Member Rebecca Seawright, Chair, Committee on Aging
• Bill Ferris, NY Legislative Rep, AARP
• Ann Marie Cook, President/CEO, Lifespan of Greater Rochester
• Allison Nickerson, Executive Director, LiveOn NY
• Becky Preve, Executive Director, Association on Aging in New York
These conversations are critical as New York works to ensure that older adults can age with dignity, independence, and the support they deserve.
