Today, on World Cancer Day, we stand with the millions of people whose lives have been touched by cancer.
Almost all of us know someone - a patient, family member, friend, or colleague - who has faced this disease.
You are not alone, and your journey matters.
As an OBGYN practice, we see every day how powerful prevention and early detection can be.
Routine screenings like PAP tests, HPV testing, breast exams, and open conversation about family history truly save lives.
Taking time for your health is one of the most important things you can do for yourself and for people who love you.
Let today be a reminder to
- scheduled recommended screenings
- pay attention to changes in your body
-support those going through treatment
- show compassion - to others and yourself
Together, through awareness, prevention, and support, we can make a difference.

SAFE IN THE SUN ☀️
Pregnancy and Summer Tips

Soaking up the sunshine? After a long winter, here’s how to keep you (and your baby) safe, cool, and comfortable all summer long:

🌞 Choose pregnancy-safe sunscreen:
Look for mineral-based options with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide — gentle and effective.

💧 Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate:
Pregnancy increases your fluid needs. Carry a refillable water bottle and sip often — especially outdoors.

🧢 Protect your skin:
Pregnancy hormones can trigger melasma ("the mask of pregnancy"). Wear a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and seek shade between 10 am – 4 pm.

❄️ Avoid overheating:
Your core body temperature is already higher during pregnancy. Limit outdoor activity during peak heat and take breaks in air conditioning.

🦵 Swelling or varicose veins?
Try elevating your legs after time in the heat and wear supportive shoes or compression socks if needed.

⚠️ Know the signs of heat-related illness:
If you feel dizzy, nauseous, overly tired, or notice swelling that does not go down — seek shade, hydrate, and call your doctor if symptoms persist.

Enjoy summer safely —
Your body is doing something incredible! We’re here to support you every step of the way.

⛱️TRAVELING WHILE PREGNANT?
HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW 🏖️
Whether you are planning a babymoon or flying for family visits, a little preparation can go a long way toward keeping your travel experience safe and comfortable.
Here are our OBGYN-recommended travel tips for moms-to-be:

*** Best time to Travel:
The second trimester ( weeks 14-28) is often the most comfortable time to fly - nausea usually improves, and energy levels tend to rise.

*** Hydrate frequently - and don't hold your bladder too long.
Dehydration and full bladder during pregnancy can cause cramping and discomfort.
Please remember to drink water!
Frequent restroom breaks aren't just okay - they are necessary!

*** Keep your blood flowing:
On long flights or drives, move your legs regularly to reduce the risk of swelling and blood clots.
Compression socks can also help with circulation.

*** Skip the Gas-Inducing foods for 24 hours before flying.
Foods like beans, carbonated drinks and cruciferous vegetables ( like broccoli and cabbage) can increase bloating - and gas expands at altitude, which may cause added discomfort.

*** Pack Smart:
Don't forget your prenatal vitamins, healthy snacks, water and copy of your prenatal records.
Comfort is key, so dress in loose, breathable clothing and bring medications you may need.

*** Know Your Destination:
Familiarize yourself with the nearest hospital at your travel location, especially if you are in your third trimester

*** Talk to Your Provider before you go.
Especially important if you are traveling later in pregnancy or have any complications
we are here to help.

May 28th is MENSTRUAL HEALTH DAY
Let's talk PERIODS - because menstrual health is health.

Here are few things every patient should know:
*** Irregular cycles?
It might be stress - or it might be time to check for underlying conditions such as hormonal imbalance, thyroid issues or metabolic problems.

These are not " just part of being a woman". They may be condition called dysmenorrhea ( painful periods) or signs of ovarian cysts, fibroids, endometriosis or other treatable conditions.
*** Missing period?
Pregnancy is not the only cause - nutrition, medications or underlying health issues can also play role.
*** Teens matter too.
It is never too early to start conversation and build healthy, informed relationship with your body.

Menstrual health affects physical, mental and social well-being.
