Watching this show Dopesick about the early days of OxyContin has been a surreal experience. I finished episode 5 last night and today my mom sent me this text "Omg!!! I just finished watching Dopesick. It's like watching a movie about our lives. Crazy and sad." The way everything went down and the way it transformed so many lives and the way this show has so accurately painted the picture has almost given me brief panic attacks while watching. Thinking about how many good kids from my small high school started using these things in 2002/2003 and became addicted and then either passed away or ended up in and out of jails, prisons, and rehabs. Me being one of them. Sometimes when I start writing a Facebook post about recovery I'm not sure why I'm writing or what's the purpose. Sometimes it's a healing process for me kind of like writing in a journal, however as I was writing this and thinking about my friends who I went through the suffering with I know some of y'all are still stuck, still dopesick. If you're reading this, you should know there’s a way out.

I don’t know a lot, but here’s what I do know:

God has a good plan for your life.

There will be hardship and trials that you face as you walk in this plan.

Some so big that they will feel like everything has shattered around you.

Some so heartbreaking that you can’t believe there is a way through.

But God has a plan for you that included even the worst parts of your life.

He knew they’d happen, and He uses them accordingly.

Did God want you to go through all the bad? I honestly don’t think so. I don’t think He finds enjoyment in our suffering.. at all.

But He uses it to change our trajectory and our hearts.

Friend, you need to remember that God has called you out.

You are chosen.

There is some mission and purpose on your life that no one else can have.

When God called you to it, He didn’t say “keep walking until it gets hard, then stop because I don’t know what to do from there.”

No.

In fact the Bible says, “He who created a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 1:6)

What does this mean?

It means He’s NOT done with you!

As long as you have a heartbeat and breath in your lungs, your plan is still unfolding.

There is still more.

But you are going to need Him to keep going.

The idea that there is no purpose for you is a lie straight from hell.

Don’t even entertain it.

God doesn’t make people who aren’t intentional and who aren’t apart of His plan.

You have so much purpose.

You have something the world needs.

He isn’t even close to being done with you.
