Some moments remind us exactly what compassionate care looks like.

After a difficult experience elsewhere, Lloyd shared his heartfelt gratitude for the care he received from our Home Health Team, especially from Nurse Katie Walters, whose kindness, generosity, and compassion made a lasting difference during a challenging week.

From the first phone call to hands-on care in the home, Lloyd described feeling heard, supported, and truly cared for. He shared that Katie went above and beyond to make sure he was not alone and had what he needed, calling her “an angel who understands love and compassion.”

Stories like this reflect the healing ministry at the heart of Catholic Health Services and the extraordinary dedication of team members like Katie.

Our Community Engagement team had a wonderful time connecting with seniors and families at the Hard Rock Senior Expo, sharing information about the many healthcare services available through Catholic Health Services.

This April, Catholic Health Services West Campus came together in support of Parkinson’s Awareness Month—turning everyday moments into meaningful action through raffles, dress-down days, and a shared commitment to care.

Through this effort, we were able to contribute to both the Parkinson’s Association and our indigent Fund. Thanks to the dedication of our team, with special recognition to Aaron Miller for leading the effort, and to our partner TMC for its support of this initiative.

When we serve together, we make a difference that goes far beyond our walls.

There is something profoundly moving about a life poured out in service to others. At Catholic Health Services, we are deeply grateful for the Sisters and religious women whose presence brings at the same time strength and tenderness to the work of caring for our patients each day.

Serving in administrative leadership, social work, pastoral care, and clinical roles, they are at the heart of our operation across South Florida. Their example shapes the character of our organization and helps sustain the culture of attentive, compassionate care that defines Catholic Health Services.

Their presence is felt across each of our four medical campuses in Miami-Dade and Broward counties, where Catholic Health Services offers a full continuum of specialized care, including inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation hospitals for people recovering from surgery, stroke, injury, or illness; skilled nursing; assisted living; home healthcare; palliative care and hospice. In every setting, their dedication helps create an environment where patients and families feel supported, respected, and cared for with genuine empathy.

This month, Catholic Health Services is honored to recognize Glennis Wallace, Executive Assistant to the Executive Director of our East Campus, as she reaches her 40-year anniversary with us.

Her history is a remarkable reflection of loyalty, professionalism, and the kind of steady leadership that leaves a lasting mark on an organization and the people it serves. We are grateful for her years of dedication and pleased to celebrate this meaningful milestone.

A vital part of that journey has been her influential role at our North Campus, a dynamic Miami location that encompasses Villa Maria Nursing Center and St. Catherine’s Rehabilitation Hospital. Together, these respected healthcare facilities provide skilled nursing and specialized multidisciplinary rehabilitation for patients recovering from surgery, stroke, injury, or illness.

Glennis’ 40-year tenure speaks beautifully to the culture of Catholic Health Services — a place where commitment is valued, excellence is nurtured, and a career in healthcare can grow with purpose, stability, and lasting impact.

In April we celebrate National Occupational Therapy Month. At Catholic Health Services, we are grateful for the skilled, compassionate occupational therapists who help our patients reclaim independence after surgery, stroke, injury, or illness.

Whether in our inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation programs across our hospitals in Miami-Dade and Broward counties, occupational therapy helps patients return to the daily routines that shape life at home, at work, and in the community.

From getting dressed and preparing meals to rebuilding strength, coordination, and confidence, these services can make a lasting difference in recovery and quality of life. We witness that difference every day in the lives of our patients.

This month, we honor our occupational therapists for the care they provide and the hope they help restore.
