It’s Monday and the world feels heavy.

Maybe you are having a hard time expressing your feelings. Maybe you don’t feel like you really have the words to describe how you are feeling.
Maybe you have gotten some feedback that the way you have been expressing yourself is hurtful to those around you.
Or maybe you have been trying to avoid feelings at all.

We didn’t all get great lessons in how to express ourselves. But we can learn or re-learn ways that work for us now. ✨

And also, this is totally why I don’t let you apologize for crying in my office. This is literally what that space is for.

Go be amazing! ☀

I am hearing a lot more about anxiety in social situations as school gets back in session + as offices start calling people back in. ⏰

My introverts are like can’t we WFH forever? And my extroverts are like there is no earthly way you could possibly be suggesting another zoom meeting!

That perfect balance of anxiety can actually help us respond to perceived dangers and face difficult challenges. But in some cases it can become really overwhelming. Here are a few of the ways social anxiety can show up.

Just a reminder to be kind to yourself as social demands continue to shift around you 💛.

How does stress show up for you?

For me it's irritability 😬and an inability to “settle,“ ya know that anxious buzz 🐝?

When I start to recognize those, or when they are kindly pointed out by a loved one (ahh, marriage), I know it’s time to double down on my stress relief efforts.

What’s your clue that your stress levels are starting to rise? 🔍

Do you struggle to feel worthwhile? 😞

Do you doubt your ability to perform well and accomplish things?

Low confidence or self-esteem can stem from the idea that you are just not good enough.

Use these simple but effective ideas as activities to build confidence. ☀

These are simple but powerful tools to develop a more confident sense of self!

Comment below and let me know something you love about yourself. I would love celebrate that with you 🧡

We all have parts that want to feel seen and accepted, right? \\

(I hope it isn’t just me!)

But sometimes these “I want to fit in parts” keep us all boxed up into a mold that doesn’t feel authentic to who you are - I might just be preaching to my high school self here 😬.

What’s one expectation of others you can kiss goodbye this week?

For me, it’s the expectation that busy = better. 🌿

It’s Monday which means a week full of people 🙌...and their opinions 😒.

Responding to unsolicited advice is not always easy.

But I promise you can develop your own style. You really can!

Being assertive and setting your boundaries does not mean you need to react aggressively (the number one thing I hear in my office is, “but I don’t want to be mean!”).

Just a reminder that you are not committed or obligated to adopt or accept any advice. ☀

Y'all know I have nothing against a good bath. But if that’s your only self-care plan we gotta talk 🤷‍♀️

Self-care also looks like:

✶ Cleaning up your sleep schedule.
✶ Scheduling some phone free time.
✶ Saying no to the opportunity that isn’t in alignment with your values.
✶ Putting it back if it’s not in the budget.
✶ Move. Just moving!
✶ Getting outside even just to stand for 15 minutes.
✶ Scheduling the doctor appointment you've been putting off.

What’s on your self-care list for this week?

I don’t know what your weekend holds but for a lot of us it doesn’t automatically = relaxation 🤷‍♀️.

❊ Maybe it’s a break in a familiar routine or more interpersonal stress.
❊ Maybe it’s juggling demands from people around you.
❊ Or a reminder that you aren’t feeling super connected right now as everyone else posts their weekend photos (who are these people with seemingly unlimited budgets, airline miles, and invite lists?!).

So here are a few reminders for when things get intense this weekend.

You got this ✨.

What’s one thing you are doing for you this weekend?

Sometimes we see more lists and checklists about all the wrong things, that we don't reflect on all the right things we could strive for!

These signs of a healthy relationship provide us goals to increase a sense of enrichment and empowerment in relationships of any kind - including your relationship with your therapist!

Keep these in mind as you think about your closest relationships and how they add to your life and you to theirs! 🧡

Do you ever find yourself going over things from the past again and again?

Or maybe something has recently really set yo off and you can tell you are emotionally spiraling.

Triggers can be really hard to navigate especially if we have strong protector parts that are trying to keep us safe. 😐⁣⁣

If this sounds like you save this post to help you navigate the emotional layers and get unstuck. 🚨
