Most have heard this story of Henrietta Lacks an women. Sadly she would die at the age of 31 from Cervical Cancer. It was her cells that would live for ever and give life to generations of people around the world.

This famous case based out of and never gets old. Now that civil rights attorney is involved the family seems to be getting some results.

Imagine that, your cells leading to ground breaking scientific discoveries and billions of dollars in products, not to mention the many scientific patents,the polio vaccine, HPV vaccine HIV & COVID treatments and so much more. Yes, scientists, patients and healthcare systems across the world benefited but not her. Even a Nobel Prize came from these cells.

The HPV vaccine developed would ironically have possibly saved her life.

You never gave your permission and you never received a penny. That is until now. A few days ago has reached an undislosed settlement alleging enrichment from the "immortal" cell line of they now join Fisher Scientific in the companiew that have settled with more to come I am sure.

The world owes Henrietta a debt of gratitude.

This will hurt the nrxt generation of everything that is good for our family, community and country.

There is a bitter irony unfolding in plain sight. While Donald Trump issues proclamations celebrating Black History Month and praising the contributions of Black Americans, colleges across the country are quietly cutting ties with organizations that helped Black, Latino, and Native students enter doctoral programs and build academic careers. Erasing opportunity is not equality.

These partnerships were never about exclusion. Under political pressure, many institutions retreated from inclusive practices. Diversity initiatives are now reframed reverse racism, and favoritism for non-whites. Equity is mislabeled as discrimination against whites . Programs designed to widen access are being dismantled in the name of “neutrality” and so-called merit. Look at the current adminstratiin and ask one question: “Were these appointments based on neutrality snd merit?”

Here’s the reality neutrality in an unequal system preserves inequality. Merit in a system of white previlege is oppression.

Diversity initiatives expand opportunity. They do not subtract from it. When pathways to advanced education are weakened, the damage is not limited to one community — it is a loss of innovation, intellectual range, and democratic strength for the nation itself.

It is contradictory to celebrate Black history symbolically while undermining the structures that allow Black agency in the present.

Commemoration without access is performance—political theater for his followers, and open mockery to those who know the truth. Celebration without opportunity is hypocrisy.

Great time serving as speaker during th HIV/AIDS Awareness event. it was a good reminder of why is such a great place to live. Nothing is perfect but the support from top levels of government for all of its citizens is always clear with these events.

Could not help but recall in the early 80s the fear that an unknown disease known as created. Followed by

The opportunistic infections we saw back then in the early days was a death sentence. When made his announcement, we all realized we were vulnerable. It was not just someone elses problem. The bag of medicines and side effects have been replaced with one pill that can make viral levels undetectable. This along with and have been game changers.

I focused some of my remarks on male . This was largely focused on how common is. Also how it is linked to the many chronic diseases such as and to name a few. We cant forget that these conditions along with play a huge role.

The link between ED and heartdisease is real.

A common theme of the day was to talk about it, get tested, see the doctor and to do the right thing.
