✨Have Yourselves a GRATEFUL Little Christmas✨

Hello From Laurens Care Center,

One day, our activities staff dreamed of sharing the warm fuzzy feeling of gratitude. Tirelessly our residents and staff colored leaves and shared what brought them gratitude. Before long, we had enough gratitude leaves to create an entire gratitude tree that we proudly displayed at the care center.

Alas, we knew our leaves needed to be shared with the whole town, so we thought up a project, and we thought it up quick! We transformed our gratitude leaves into wreaths and behold our gratitude Christmas wreaths were born just in time to be decorations for our Christmas tree at the Laurens Festival of Trees. A special thank you to the Methodist Church in Laurens for hosting this beloved Christmas tree tradition.

This holiday season, we ask that you spread the warm, fuzzy feeling of gratitude by sharing what you are grateful for with those around you and in the comments section below.

We hope you had yourselves a GRATEFUL little Christmas yesterday. Thank you for trusting us with your most precious gifts this holiday season- your family/our residents.

We want to give a huge shout out to our Pocahontas Community Hospital elves for, once again, decking our halls with Christmas presents for our residents. In November, we gave PCH star tags with each residents room number, gender, and 3 things they’d like for Christmas. They placed these tags on a tree in the hospital for their employees to “Adopt a Grandparent”. Then they hand delivered all of these gifts this week to us! We cannot thank you enough for all the work, love, and care that went into every step of this process for our residents. THANK YOU, PCH!!!! 💚❤️💚❤️

THANK YOU to our local pastors/ministers/reverends for coming up with the idea for our town’s ecumenical Thanksgiving service to be hosted by Laurens Care Center. Over two-thirds of our residents attended, and this turnout was a testament to how much it meant for us to be included. What a beautiful service filled with plenty to be thankful for in our busy little town of Laurens!

This month’s Kooky Kitchen recipe was apple enchiladas. 🍎🍏

We began Kooky Kitchen in July. For our Kooky Kitchen activity we ask residents to work together to cook a delicious recipe, and in the afternoon our residents and staff can enjoy the delicious fruits of our labor! 😋

Laurens Care Center hosted our annual Fall Feast today. This is an opportunity for our residents to share a meal with friends and family at our facility. Thank you to everyone who came to our Fall Feast, and thank you to all of our hardworking and dedicated staff who made this event possible.

We are SO thankful you trust us to provide comfort, care, and compassion to your loved ones. What a heartwarming day filled with so much thanksgiving!!

During our Veterans Day service at the care center, we presented 8 veterans with Quilts of Valor made by Sally Wenell. These quilts are connected to the Quilts of Valor Foundation where they believe quilts=healing. Each quilt was presented by wrapping them around each veteran as a “hug” of gratitude for their service. We thank you for your service, dedication to our country, and sacrifice.

A special thank you to Sally for making this possible, the hundreds of hours spent creating these quilts, and for thinking of our care center veterans plus 2 community veterans. Your work and altruism is impeccable!!

Our staff and residents had an absolute blast on Halloween! We had several folks dress in costumes, we played Halloween Bingo, and we threw a fun Halloween party.

Check out the “zombie punch” we served at the party complete with gummy worms, body parts, lime sherbet, Sprite, and edible green glitter!

The residents competed in a monster drawing contest. They had 2 minutes to draw a monster using their non-dominant hand. Our residents were so creative with their monster ideas!
