Enjoy all the photos from the Highland Society event on February 12.

We had an incredible evening honoring the donors, partners, and friends whose generosity strengthens healthcare across our communities. From inspiring stories of impact to special recognitions, the night was filled with gratitude and celebration.💙

Special thanks to: Dos Eddies —the acoustic duo of Greg Miller (a Laurinburg native) and Mark Weathers—along with culinary offerings from Morrison Healthcare Food Service, desserts by The Blue Crayon Café, beautiful florals by Brady's Flowers, drinks by Dial Ventures, and the gracious hospitality of The Southern Dream venue.

✨ Highlights from the evening:
• Recognized 185 Highland Society members, including 39 new inductees whose gifts help provide lifesaving care close to home.
• Welcomed 7 new members to the Skye Club, our highest donor society for lifetime giving of $25,000+.
• Honored our Fulton–Tornow Society planned giving members for creating a legacy of care.
• Presented the 2025 Business of the Year Award to Michelle Ellerbe of Carolina Solution, Inc.
• Celebrated Beacham McDougald as our 2025 Friend of the Foundation.
• Announced exciting momentum for our Healing Begins Here Capital Campaign, with more than $900,000 raised toward expanding the Scotland Cancer Treatment Center.

Thank you to every donor, volunteer, partner, and supporter who makes this work possible. 💛 Together, we are building a healthier future for our community.

✨Celebrating Our Newest Skye Club Members✨

During our Highland Society Event, we inducted 7 new members into the Skye Club, the highest level of donor recognition within Scotland Memorial Foundation. Skye Club membership honors donors whose lifetime giving reaches $25,000 or more, and as of December 31, we are grateful to have 120 members whose generosity strengthens healthcare across our region.

Congratulations to our newest Skye Club inductees:

💙 Philip Van Every Foundation – Awarded a $25,000 grant supporting mammogram screenings through our new mobile unit.
💙 First Capital Bank – A longtime supporter that provided a generous gift for cancer patients before their closing this year.
💙 Ron & Carole Gibson – Recognized for their personal support, including Ron’s heartfelt gift of naming a Cancer Center exam room in Carole’s honor.
💙 Dr. Deborah Hanmer – Continuing her late husband’s legacy through dedicated support for the FUNd Run and the Cancer Center Expansion.
💙 Mrs. Mary Pickens – Inspired by Dr. Hanmer to join in supporting the Cancer Center Expansion.
💙 Robeson Health Care Corporation – Exceptional partners in community health under the leadership of Tim Hall.
💙 Jay & Julieann Todd – Longtime supporters and champions of Scotland Health, with Jay serving as past Foundation Board Chair.

👏 Congratulations to all our inductees, and thank you for your extraordinary commitment to care close to home. Your generosity makes a profound impact on every patient and every family we serve.

💛 Together, we are building a healthier future for our community.

⭐2025 Foundation Awards ⭐

Each year during the Highland Society Event we recognize donors who are making a difference in our communities. This may come in the form of financial support, advocacy, and volunteerism. This year we recognized the following donors:

Carolina Solution, Inc. was recognized as the Business of the Year for their rapidly expanding partnership over the last few years. Owner, Michelle Ellerbe first connected with us when we learned she taught Zumba and invited her to help lead activities at the FUNd Run. Not only did she bring incredible energy to the event, she immediately stepped forward as a business sponsor. When we launched our Bling Out Breast Cancer Competition, she as a breast cancer survivor and her company joined enthusiastically - mobilizing an impressive network of supporters and raising over $5,000, ultimately winning the competition. Her commitment didn't stop there. After attending one of our Foundation meet-and-greet sessions last year, she deepened her involvement even further by securing a head table at the Ritz as a White Glove sponsor, demonstrating her belief in our mission and her dedication to our community.

Next we honored our Friend of the Foundation for 2025. This award recognizes an individual who supports the Foundation in countless ways throughout the year - someone who shows up, speaks up, and lifts up our mission as a true ambassador. Beacham McDougald is known by almost everyone, if not personally, then by his posts on Facebook. Chances are you have followed his journey, his courage, his resilience, his humor, and his honesty as he's navigated the challenges of cancer. Through every high and low, one things has remained absolutely clear - his deep love and unwavering support for Scotland Health. Beacham's generosity reaches far beyond social media posts. It shows in his actions, his advocacy, and in his belief in the work we do. He inspires others, he champions our mission, and he reminds us what the power of community truly looks like.

It's an honor having folks like Michelle and Beacham work alongside us to change the trajectory of health in our rural communities! Thank you!

🌟 Healing Begins Here! 🌟

Scotland Memorial Foundation is excited to launch the community phase of our Healing Begins Here Capital Campaign — a major step toward expanding and renovating the Scotland Cancer Treatment Center.

Unveiled at the Highland Society Banquet, this campaign aims to raise $2 million to support a $10 million project that will add 8,000+ sq. ft. and fully transform the existing facility.

This expansion means:
💙 A larger chemotherapy lab with 25 infusion chairs
💙 Private, more comfortable treatment bays
💙 Additional exam rooms to reduce wait times
💙 A private infusion-area restroom
💙 A dedicated exit for patients leaving treatment with dignity

“This project began as an idea in 2019 and is finally becoming reality,” said Jennifer Wilkes, Director of the Scotland Cancer Treatment Center. “Our community deserves a space that reflects the exceptional care we provide.”

Executive Director Misty McMillan shared a powerful reminder of the Center’s roots: “I'm told that nearly 30 years ago, a feasibility study said a cancer center wouldn’t succeed here. But our leaders believed in this community — and because of their courage, thousands of families have received care close to home.”

Thanks to the dedication of our Capital Campaign Steering Committee—Paul Brooks, Danny Caddell, Faline Locklear-Dial, Jim Mason, Carol McCall, Wayne Wike, and Sandra Wilkes—the quiet phase has already raised over $900,000. 🙌

Now, we invite you to join us.
Every gift strengthens the future of cancer care in our region.💛 Healing begins here — and it begins with all of us.

Feeling incredibly grateful for a Board that champions the meaningful work of our community health workers and community paramedics—work that is now receiving national recognition. And a heartfelt thank‑you to our donors, whose generosity makes these vital projects possible when they might otherwise go unfunded. ❤️

🎉 We’re Proud to Celebrate Big News at Scotland Health! 🎉

We are honored to announce that Scotland Health Care System has been named one of only four national finalists for the 2026 American Hospital Association Rural Hospital Excellence in Innovation Award! Our innovative Scotland Health at Home program was recognized for transforming care for high-risk patients and strengthening the health of our communities.

During the opening ceremonies at the AHA Rural Health Care Leadership Conference, David Pope, our CEO & President, accepted this incredible recognition on behalf of our entire Scotland Health family. 🙌

This achievement highlights the dedication of our teams, the resilience of our patients, and the unwavering support of partners who help make programs like Scotland Health at Home possible — including Scotland Health, Scotland Memorial Foundation, the North Carolina Office of Rural Health, and The Duke Endowment.

💙 Thank you to every teammate, provider, partner, donor, and patient who has helped us reach this milestone. Together, we are building a healthier future for our communities — and we couldn’t be prouder!
