Medicare has recognized Hospice of Scotland County as a five-star hospice provider in North Carolina. This top-tier rating reflects the organization’s long-standing commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, and compassionate end-of-life care to patients and their families throughout the region.

Medicare’s star rating is based on the national Family Caregiver Survey, which gathers feedback from the loved ones and caregivers of hospice patients. The survey evaluates multiple aspects of care, including communication with family members, timeliness of help, respect for patients, emotional and spiritual support, management of pain and symptoms, the training provided to families, the overall rating of the hospice, and the likelihood that caregivers would recommend the agency. Hospice of Scotland County exceeded the national average in all eight of these categories, demonstrating exceptional performance across both clinical and supportive services.

💙 March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month 💙
Colon cancer is one of the most preventable cancers — screening saves lives. When detected early, colon cancer is highly treatable, yet many people delay or skip recommended screenings.

✅ Talk with your provider about when to start screening
✅ Know your family history
✅ Don’t ignore changes in your health

This March, take a step for your health and encourage someone you love to do the same. Prevention starts with awareness. 💙

As American Heart Month comes to a close, Scotland Health extends a heartfelt thank‑you to our community for joining us in learning, engaging, and taking steps toward better heart health throughout February.

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States, responsible for 1 in every 5 deaths.

Recent national data shows that heart disease still accounts for more U.S. deaths than cancer and chronic lower respiratory disease combined, underscoring the continued need for awareness and prevention.

This month, we emphasized the importance of:
• Knowing your numbers — blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose
• Recognizing symptoms early
• Understanding risk factors like high blood pressure, which affects nearly half of U.S. adults, yet only 1 in 4 have it under control
• Taking preventive steps such as staying active, eating heart‑healthy foods, and avoiding to***co

We also highlighted that cardiovascular disease remains widespread, with 130.6 million U.S. adults living with some form of CVD and someone dying from cardiovascular disease every 34 seconds. (CDC)

❤️ Our Commitment Moving Forward

Although February is ending, our dedication to heart health continues year‑round. Scotland Health will keep promoting prevention, increasing screening opportunities, supporting heart‑healthy lifestyle changes, and expanding education across our rural communities.

Your heart health matters every day — and we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Scotland Health — Closer Care. Better by Far.
