Here are our hours for next week’s holiday schedule! We’ll be closed on Thanksgiving Day (11/27) and open by appointment only on Wednesday (11/26) and Friday (11/28). Interval Training on Wednesday (11/26) is still on! Yoga is canceled on Friday (11/28) and we will just have our 9:00 Interval Training class on Saturday (11/29) and the 10:00 is canceled. Congratulations to our client of the week, Leann! Leann has been training with us since February 2023! When she joined us her goals were to build strength, improve her posture, and work on her general health & wellness. She’s proud to say that she has made huge progress towards each of these goals and has also noticed she’s feeling so much more confident too! 🏆
Leann has a lot of great things to say about Tallgrass: she loves the personal attention and individualized workout programming she gets from her trainer Shannon, she says the staff are all warm and friendly, and she has loved all of our group classes that she’s tried. Leann says that Tallgrass is the perfect place for folks who want to escape the chaos of a big box gym and join a community that’s calm and positive! 💗
As a huge plant lover, choosing her favorite Tallgrass plant was tough, but she went with the big bunny ear cactus (as seen in her photo!). 🌵 Her favorite exercise is any type of squat and she is also getting really strong with deadlifts now that she’s truly mastered her hip hinge. Leann, you’re the best and we love having you at Tallgrass! 🙌

Meet this week’s client of the week: Sharon! Sharon has been steadfast on her fitness journey! Sharon’s biggest motivator to keep coming into Tallgrass is her health. Her mother lived to be 99, but had some health issues that plagued her during her later senior years. Sharon saw the toll those health issues took on her mother, and she is determined to break the cycle! ✨ When Sharon was diagnosed with diabetes, it was exercise that helped her the most. She started weight training and attending water aerobics classes, and her hard work paid off. Within six to eight months, Sharon was starting to see the results she was looking for! Sharon got busy with life, and found herself in a position where she needed to take control of her health again. She joined Tallgrass and is now on her journey to keep improving her health and feel great! Her favorite Tallgrass plant is the Peace Lilly. ☮️ Sharon wants people to know that the trainers at Tallgrass ask questions during the exercises to make sure you are feeling things correctly and they are more attentive than trainers she has had in the past. Thank you for choosing us Sharon! You’re a rockstar! 💛

Now that the weather is cooling down, it’s time to warm up with a new Tallgrass hoodie! We have a limited amount of these awesome, high quality, warm & cozy heather gray sweatshirts in select sizes (S-XL) available for $35 apiece! These sweatshirts are locally made by hand by and they are so comfy! Everyone say hello to this week’s client of the week: Coco! Coco ended up at Tallgrass after she drove by and saw it one day, and decided to look up Tallgrass to see what we were all about. She contacted Shannon, and little did she know Tallgrass would impact her so much! Coco felt inadequate lifting weights at commercial gyms, and she wanted a comfortable, intimate setting to learn how to properly lift weights. This girl has become incredibly strong and one of the most seasoned lifters at Tallgrass! 💪 She loves to keep coming into Tallgrass because of the knowledgeable trainers and every week she learns something new! Although she has numerous exercises that she is fond of, a few of her favorites include barbell hip thrusts and lat pulldowns. When asked what her least favorite exercises were she didn’t hesitate to say Bulgarian split squats (isn’t that everyone’s least favorite?! Haha!) and side planks. Coco wants other people to know that Tallgrass is a welcoming space to all types of people, and she’s never felt uncomfortable or judged for having tattoos. It is a beautiful thing to witness different types of people coming in to work on their fitness goals. During her interview Coco said, “If you’re new, scared, and don’t know where to start, try Tallgrass! It’s been life-changing for me!” We love that your energy, Coco! 🩷

If you know Tallgrass, you know by now that we love the Ballard Center, a local non-profit that helps our community in so many ways. They offer a variety of services including no or low-cost early childhood education, rent and utility support, clothing and food pantries, and more!
Right now, the Ballard Center’s clothing closet is lacking in coats. Please help us help those in need by donating new or gently used coats of all sizes from kids 5T to adult XXL, but especially kids sizes!
As the temperatures get colder, we want everyone in need to be able to stay warm this season. We’ll be collecting coats until November 26th, so please bring what you can to the orange barrel located in our building.

Introducing this week’s client of the week: Kelli! When we asked Kelli about her favorite thing about Tallgrass, she had more than one answer! She loves the community and how it’s a peaceful gym that’s not overcrowded. She also mentioned how Tallgrass exudes positive, supportive vibes. Kelli has been training with her personal trainer Scott for over a year and she can notice a difference in how she feels outside of the gym. She has more strength and balance for her stand-up paddle board and more stamina overall for more of her favorite activities which include hiking, kayaking, and other adventures. Kelli also mentioned that by working out at Tallgrass with a personal trainer, she can open pickle jars without asking for help! 😆That is always a win! Kelli’s personal trainer Scott keeps her motivated in progressing towards her goals because Scott gets really excited about her reaching new milestones. Kelli describes Scott as calm and sincere, so when he gets excited about her reaching a goal, Kelli knows it’s sincere and makes her want to work towards the next one. Scott also allows Kelli to listen to Taylor Swift when she meets a new goal, which is absolutely a reason to keep working hard! 🎶🩷 Kelli wants people to know that if you think you’re not a gym person, try Tallgrass! Let’s hear it for our client of the week this week: Marty! In November 2023, Marty was experiencing increased knee problems. She needed a personal trainer to assist in managing her situation and strengthen the areas surrounding the knee for a possible knee replacement. She contacted Shannon who owns and operates Tallgrass and she immediately said “You need Holly!” Marty loves that Holly focuses on functional strength training that can translate to other everyday activities. Marty appreciates Holly being a stickler for form, and how Holly incorporates pelvic floor exercises into the workouts. Marty highly recommends Tallgrass to anyone looking to improve their health and fitness. Marty had her knee replaced in May 2025, and thanks to Holly and Marta (our Tallgrass Massage Therapist), the recovery time exceeded her expectations! 🙌 We’re so glad we could help shorten your recovery time Marty, and we’re happy to continue to support your fitness journey! 💛

Meet Jenny M., our client of the week! Jenny M. ended up at Tallgrass after she had been seeing Marta for massages for 20+ years. Marta suggested Jenny give personal training a try in addition to her regularly scheduled massages, and Jenny met with Shannon and decided to start her fitness journey! Her favorite thing about working with a personal trainer is the accountability and she loves that someone cheers her on (which her trainer Elizabeth loves to do!). She really loves learning more about optimal ways to improve her strength and mobility. Jenny has shifted from “making” herself get to Tallgrass to work out to looking forward to her sessions and prioritizing them into her schedule. Since coming to Tallgrass, she’s amazed at the improvement in her flexibility and strength. When asked what her favorite exercise is, Jenny said “pulling things and throwing things.” 😆 To expand on this, she loves pulling the sled, throwing the medicine ball, and anything that makes her feel like the strong woman she is! 🏋‍♀️ Keep getting after it Jenny!

It’s our client of the week’s birthday today! Everyone meet Jennie B.!! 💍 She’s getting married in September and we couldn’t be happier for her! 💍 Tallgrass and Jennie’s personal trainer, Mindy, has helped Jennie in many ways including building her core to alleviate lower back pain and help with balance. Mindy provides Jennie with accountability and motivation to help her get stronger each session. Jennie’s favorite thing about Tallgrass is that it’s much quieter and allows the flexibility of one-on-one time with her trainer. She feels accepted and comfortable at Tallgrass. Jennie wants others who might feel intimidated to workout at a gym to come check out Tallgrass! She wants others to know that it’s a quieter, woman-owned gym and when you work with a personal trainer, you can work out on your own as well! We’re so happy to be a part of your fitness journey, Jennie! 🫶 Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and happy birthday! 🎂🎉🎁
