Many people grew up in spaces where it wasn't emotionally safe to be themselves. Maybe you were told you were 'too sensitive,' or your feelings were ignored or mocked. Over time, you learn to hide the parts of yourself and look outside for approval—parents, partners, friends, and coworkers—to tell you that you're enough. That's external validation. It's not bad to enjoy it, but when it's the only way you feel worthy, your self-esteem becomes very fragile. I will be exploring what a safe space actually feels like in real life and what it looks like to start validating your own feelings, even when no one else claps for you.
