Looking for convenient lab services? Merrimack Health Haverhill Hospital has expanded outpatient lab services at its campus for the ease and convenience of patients!

The new lab space is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Services include routine blood draws and diagnostic lab testing, and we accept referrals from any physician, not just those associated with Merrimack Health.

The expanded lab services are located just steps from Haverhill Hospital’s main entrance across from the registration department.
Haverhill Hospital is accessible using MeVa’s free Route 6 bus line.

If there are two things New Englanders know, it’s how to prepare for snow -- and the New England Patriots. ❄️ 🏈

Sunday’s game plan? Staying warm and safe.

With severe cold temperatures and winter storm conditions forecasted, remember to:
• Stay indoors if you can
• If you must go outside, dress in layers and cover your head, hands, and face
• Keep clothes dry (wet = cold, fast)
• Take breaks when shoveling; avoid overexertion
• Stay hydrated
• Know the signs of hypothermia and frostbite and seek help if symptoms appear

For icy walking conditions, remember to use the Penguin Walk:
• Take short, flat-footed, shuffling steps with knees slightly bent and toes pointed outward
• Move slowly
• Wear rubber-soled footwear or boots

The region is preparing for severe cold and winter storm conditions Sunday, Jan. 25 through Monday, Jan. 26. Our Hospitals, Emergency Departments and Trauma Center remain open to care for our communities.

Community Medical Associates physician practices and outpatient services are closed on Monday, Jan. 26, and elective procedures cancelled. Our care teams are in the process of reaching out to patients to reschedule appointments to ensure continuity of care.

If you have questions about an upcoming appointment, please reach out to your provider.

Niurka Rodriguez, a member of Lawrence Hospital's environmental services team for nearly 12 years, made an especially meaningful impact on North Andover Town Moderator Mark DiSalvo and his mother, Carmelina.

While Carmelina was receiving hospice care, she and Mark heard Niurka singing softly in the hallway. Niurka’s voice brought calm and comfort, and she later joined the mother and son in Carmelina’s room to sing and pray with the family, creating a moment of peace during a difficult time.

To show his gratitude, Mark nominated Niurka for a Moonbeam Award – Merrimack Health’s honor for employees who shine through their dedication and kindness. Earlier this year, Niurka received the award, and the DiSalvo family was there to present it in a heartfelt reunion, their first time seeing her since Carmelina’s passing.

Did you know that weather can affect your joints?

Fluctuations in temperature and humidity may increase joint stiffness and pain. Stretching, staying hydrating, and using a warm compress can help reduce joint pain, especially when the weather starts to change.

If pain continues, talk to your primary care provider about options like physical therapy: https://www.mhlawrencehospital.org/services-and-centers/rehabilitation/physical-therapy
