Bloom Midwifery and Lactation

Bloom Midwifery and Lactation Bloom provides prenatal, home birth, postpartum, well body, preconception, and lactation services.

We believe the practice of midwifery to be distinct from the practice of medicine. Midwifery is a woman centered, primary health care discipline nurtured by the relationships between women and their midwives. It protects and enhances the health and social status of women, which in turn protects and enhances the health and wellbeing of society. Midwifery is a discipline pertaining to a normal cycle of life beginning at menarche and continuing through menopause with a special emphasis on the childbearing woman. Pregnancy and birth are a fundamentally healthy process and each woman is unique so her care should be tailored to meet her individual physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Midwives know women are strong, and capable of great and ordinary things--as care providers we must not stand in the way of their knowledge and inner wisdom, rather, we should honor and nurture that strength which is inherent in every woman. We respect the dignity and rights of the women we serve and strive to work in collaboration with them, supporting women to make informed decisions about their care and to take responsibility for their own well-being. We believe that the birth experience belongs to the woman and her intimate family. And we as attendants, are guests and witnesses in the lives of others.

2026 is looking good! I moved the office and December babies are on the way. Pictures of new place to follow. And we're adding more students & classes on becoming a midwife. 🩺💜👣
