Our friends at Hornets for Hope and Beacon for Hope Su***de Prevention are hosting the 3rd Annual Light the Way for Hope walk on March 28 in Emporia, and HeadQuarters Kansas is proud to help spread the word.

The event runs 10am–2pm at Flint Hills Mall and features a lived-experience speaker, bake sale, raffles, local organizations, and su***de prevention resources. Registration is free.

Events like this remind us that su***de prevention isn't just policy or programming — it's people showing up for each other. We hope you'll be one of them.

We’re incredibly grateful to Kim Murphree and the team at KLWN for the opportunity to highlight the important work our crisis services team is doing at the Treatment & Recovery Center of Douglas County, as well as share updates on plans for the upcoming Youth Recovery Center.

We also appreciate the chance to talk about the signs and symptoms people can watch for in themselves and their loved ones that can indicate it’s time to seek mental health support through outpatient therapy, medication, or crisis care. 💚

During the COVID-19 pandemic, she served as Operations Director for Douglas County Unified Command, where she led mass vaccination operations. Her work has been recognized by the deBeaumont Foundation’s 40 Under 40 in Public Health Award and as the 2021 Douglas County Preparedness Partner of the Year Award. Today is World Teen Mental Wellness Day. A reminder that the mental health of young people isn't a trend or a talking point. It's a priority.

Teens across Kansas are navigating more than most of us did at their age. The pressures are real. The feelings are real. And the need for connection and support is very real.

At HeadQuarters Kansas, we believe every young person deserves to feel heard, hopeful, and less alone. If you know a teen who's struggling, or if you ARE a teen reading this, know that support is always within reach.

Call, text, or chat online with 988 anytime. We're here.
