Our word is Joy!

So many of you have sent me posts about this new moon portal and the much anticipated Year of the Horse starting in February. Almost every post mentions Joy and Whimsy.

Whimsy is such a good word, isn’t it? I don’t know what brings me more Joy than a whimsical little bouquet in the dead of winter.

I took some time to be quiet over the last few weeks. During my lying in, I also sent a lot of reels and posts. We’re slowly, super slowly moving out of the time of darkness and Whimsy and Joy are skipping hand-in- hand in my heart.

I recorded a podcast episode about manifesting and using you Whimsy to not only get clear about the next year, but also to communicate clearly to the universe.

Happy Tuesday!

Our sweet yoga sister and a friend for over 30 years Irene, sent me this a few weeks ago. We’re focusing on Joy!

When we feel good we do good. I have so much gratitude and Joy around all of the good you do. This community is so loving and so dedicated to Seva, our selfless service practice. You make me smile only a daily basis.

What will you do for Joy today? What would make you feel good mind/body/spirit? I’m not talking about chocolate cake good. I’m talking about massage good, s*x good, hot tub good.

What can you do today that helps you feel mentally, physically and emotionally better than you do right now?

I made a promise to myself to get out in the sunshine as often as I can this winter. Today we’re having a break in the cold, so Xander and I are heading out. By the end of the walk, I’ll be dancing to my tunes and ready to make the rest of the day even better.

At this place in my grief, I need to make sure I’m getting enough Vitamin D for my brain. The temp change helps shift brain chemistry and is the fastest way I know to elevate my mood. Xander loves the cold, I get to move my body and listen to my Walking With Xander playlist and we both get to feel Joy!

Gratitude, Grief and Joy are swirling around me these days. I took time last week to be still, to process, to rest, nap and be present with all the uncomfortable truths of the moment.

Happy Tuesday!

Is Tuesday Throwback a thing? Well, here i am January 20, 2018 at the Chicago Women’s March the weekend I met my love. In fact, at that moment he was upstairs working in the Federal building. We didn’t know each other well, but our hearts beat together before we even met.

Our word is Align and I’ve been looking back at how the dots connect. I’ve been seeing how past Melissa Aligned with her core values. And recognizing how differently my actions Align with those same values today.

This is about six weeks before my dad died. It was a Melissa with two parents. Now I’m a Melissa who is a widow, with no parents.

This Melissa was beginning the chapter that just ended. To understand how to go forward, today’s Melissa needs to take a look at past Melissa.

It’s Tuesday and our 3rd day of the calendar week, 2nd of the work week for most. We’ve all had some things simmering on the stove with this new energy asking us to focus on new chapters.

I invite you to breathe into our word Align and contemplate what your past self showed up and what you no longer want in your life. It doesn’t have to be bad stuff. Maybe there are some good things, that you’ve learned and grown from them, and now it’s time for other good things.

I like to think of it as whittling. When you whittle away what you don’t want anymore something new and beautiful emerges. What’s your new shape?

Happy Wednesday!

Our word for the session is Align! Are you thinking about little random things and then they show up right in front of you? That’s how it works and lots of our yoga family is texting and sharing how things just keep falling into place. It’s SO yummy.

We’re popping up tonight at 8:30p for Zoom Restorative Yoga. Restorative is the perfect practice to open mind/body/spirit and get present with what’s in your heart and what’s showing up in your life. Releasing stuck places helps move that energy out into the world so that things can show up for you. It’s such delicious work.

We’re popping up Saturday morning at 8:30a for Zoom Somatic Yoga. Gentle movement helps you get in touch with, process and release stuck energy and emotions. Another great way to step into our word.

Saturday afternoon join us for a mini-retreat. For two and a half hours take a break to turn inward. You’ll leave feeling relaxed, rested and open with a sense of security and ease. $85, 4-6:30p at OmTree Shala.
