Black Doula Day starts Black Maternal Health Week.
Being a Doula isn't an easy job.
To put it mildly, it's not for the faint of heart.
Remember, there's at least 2 lives counting on you to survive birth.
As a Doula, that's part of the oath you took - to protect & guard mothers & children.
Now imagine being a Black Doula.
Having to deal with a system that wasn't built for us.
A system that was built on racism.
And yes, I've seen it firsthand.
When I share the message that every Black pregnant woman needs a Black Doula, it's not an exaggeration.
The MIC (Medical Industrial Complex) doesn't operate in physiology (a normal life process) in operates in pathology (pregnancy is a sickness).
The MIC doesn't believe that reproductive & sexual health is spiritual.
These can literally contribute to the unnecessary interventions that women receive &/ or the outcomes women experience after birth.
If you know a Black Doula, please don't take their role for granted.
There are various ways to support them:
β’ Referring their services
β’ Reposting their content
β’ Purchasing services that benefits you &/ or family
β’ Write a testimonial
β’ Add their services to a baby registry/ gender reveal
If you're new to my page, my posts & captions aren't meant to scare you.
They're meant to inform you.
I will tell you what your OB & GYN won't.
