Our program believes that people are created physically and spiritually by God. Therefore, treatment needs a holistic approach to address each aspect. Secular programs often focus on the body and treat substance abuse issues only at a surface level. The problem is that addiction has deep roots, and clinical programs can miss the deeper issues of the heart. At 8Oaks, our pastoral staff walks side-by-side to help individuals find out what drove them to addiction and point them to Christ. While addictions often begin with spiritual root causes, they evolve into physical dependencies that need attention. That's why at 8 Oaks, we have a team of licensed medical professionals to help support individuals in recovery. Freedom from addiction is not found by rising up but rather by growing down. Yesterday, Gail Clark and Shawn Kirby were honored to be invited to University of Tennessee Southern to speak with their psychology class about 8Oaks Recovery Center and the reality of addiction and recovery.

It was a great opportunity to share our mission, educate future professionals, and continue building awareness in our community. We’re grateful for the chance to be part of the conversation and to help break the stigma surrounding addiction.

Last night, our guys from 8Oaks had the opportunity to attend a Christmas party at Living Free, and it was truly something special. Watching them step out of their comfort zones, let their guard down, and genuinely have fun was a powerful reminder of how important moments like these are in recovery.

There were plenty of memories made and laughs shared — the kind that remind us healing doesn’t always have to be heavy. Sometimes, it looks like joy, connection, and community.

A huge thank you to everyone at Living Free and to all who helped make this night possible. We’re beyond grateful for the love, support, and fellowship that was shown. ❤️🎄
