Andrea “Viv” Vivian, FNP-BC

Some people find healthcare.
Andrea was raised in it.

Her passion for caring for others began at a young age while accompanying her “bonus mom,” a nurse, to teaching sessions—where she often participated as the patient. Even then, she showed a natural instinct for medicine, occasionally offering answers to help the students 😁.

Andrea carried that passion into high school through sports medicine as an athletic trainer, staying hands-on and patient-focused early on.
She earned her Associate Degree in Nursing in 2006 and began her career in cardiology. She later spent over 11 years in cardio-neurology, gaining extensive experience managing complex conditions and caring for patients in high-acuity settings.

After moving to Tennessee in 2016 and welcoming her twins in 2015, Andrea transitioned into labor and delivery, where she spent several years supporting mothers and families through meaningful life moments. During this time, she served as a preceptor for undergraduate nursing students, which inspired her to further her education.

She enrolled in the Master’s program at the University of North Alabama and earned her degree in 2023.

She began practicing as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2024 at Express Med.

🌟 Meet the Provider Monday: Betsy Barron Mashburn, APN-C, CRNP-C 🌟

💜 A provider with a true heart for caring and deep roots in her community.

Betsy’s passion for helping others began early in the Mississippi Delta and was strengthened while caring for her grandfather during his illness. That experience helped shape her calling to pursue a career in nursing and dedicate her life to serving others.

She began her nursing career in 2011 and has since gained experience in medical-surgical nursing, home health, hospice care, and the ICU—giving her a well-rounded perspective and a deep appreciation for caring for patients and families through every stage of life.

After moving to Lawrenceburg in 2013, Betsy quickly fell in love with the community she now proudly serves. She earned her Master’s degree from the University of North Alabama in 2023 and has been part of the Express Med family for nearly two years.

She was also honored as Lawrence County Main Street Awards Nurse Practitioner of the Year in 2025 🏆💜

✨Meet the Provider Monday: Deborah Ragan, CRNP✨

Deborah is a Nurse Practitioner proudly serving the Florence, Alabama community. Originally from Iron City, Tennessee, Deborah brings a small-town work ethic and a genuine passion for helping others to every patient encounter.

Outside of the clinic, Deborah’s favorite roles are being a wife, mom, and “Mammie” to her four grandbabies who keep life busy and full of joy.

In practice, Deborah is known for her strong focus on acute care and primary care, with particular experience treating respiratory illnesses, providing IV therapy, fracture care, and weight loss management. She especially enjoys the hands-on side of patient care and loves starting IVs and drawing blood, helping patients get the treatment they need quickly and efficiently.

Her guiding principle is to serve each patient with respect, empathy, and integrity, and to advocate for their well-being. Deborah believes that listening closely and treating every patient with compassion are at the heart of good medicine.

When she’s not in scrubs, you’ll likely find her enjoying needlepoint, camping, attending baseball games, or planning a trip to Talladega, one of her favorite places to unwind.

Today was certainly an unexpected day at our Express Med Lawrenceburg location.

A vehicle accidentally ran through the front door of our primary care suite earlier today. While it was a shocking moment for our staff and patients, we are incredibly grateful to report that no one was injured.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Lawrenceburg Fire Department, City of Lawrenceburg, TN - Government police department, and Lawrence County EMS for their quick response and professionalism. We are also incredibly thankful for the many members of our community who called, messaged, and stopped by to check on our team.

Moments like today remind us how blessed we are to serve such a supportive community.

🚨Our urgent care clinic remains open and operating as normal. Primary care patients can check in at our Urgent Care entrance while repairs are made.

Shelby Brodie Hooper, APRN

A lifelong Loretto native, Shelby feels honored to serve the neighbors and families she grew up alongside. As the oldest of five siblings, she learned early the importance of responsibility, compassion, and caring for others.

Shelby began her nursing career in the CVICU at Huntsville Hospital, where she worked for 4.5 years caring for critically ill cardiac patients. She then spent 2 years in dialysis before continuing her calling in family and urgent care. She has been serving patients at Express Med since 2022, bringing experience, calm confidence, and genuine compassion to every visit.

Deeply rooted in her faith and active in her church, Shelby strives to care for others with kindness, humility, and purpose. She is happily married and blessed with four wonderful kids – Kloe, Maybrie, Jase, and Jackson.
