This past summer, Dave's health took another hit.

His body struggled to regulate temperature, leaving him overheated and faint within minutes in the sun. Cincinnati’s heat became unbearable, forcing him to spend six weeks away from home in Michigan, separated from Meagan and the life they love. Yet through all of it, he’s kept his spirit intact, a man grounded in faith, grit, and gratitude.

If you met Dave today, you might not realize how sick he really is.

On the outside he still carries his quiet smile, and his sense of humor. But behind that strength lies a daily fight. Every day, Dave battles fatigue, brain fog, and nausea. His body has slowed down, and activities that once filled him with joy – like golfing, kayaking, woodworking or tending to his garden, now drain him completely. Just one or two days of activity a week can leave him exhausted for the rest of the week.

Could you save Dave's life?

After nearly two decades, it’s time for another miracle – a second transplant to keep Dave’s story going. Though it’s difficult to face the reality that he needs another transplant, Dave refuses to give up. He continues to approach each day with gratitude, resilience, and joy.

In 2007, Dave was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease called IgA nephropathy, a condition that slowly damages the kidneys over time. In 2009, Dave received the gift of life – a kidney transplant from his mom.

That kidney gave him 16 incredible years of health, laughter, and purpose. It allowed him to build a life with his wife Meagan, pursue his passions, and live life to its fullest. But now that kidney has reached the end of its natural lifespan.

There is no cure for kidney failure.

The are only two treatments: dialysis and transplant. People tell Dave that dialysis is grueling. He hopes he doesn't have to go on dialysis and is looking for a living donor.

Could you save Dave's life?

The wait time to get a kidney from a deceased donor can be 3 – 5 years. Dave’s doctors and transplant team have advised him to look for a living donor. Finding a living donor will help him get “off the list” sooner and onto living his life.
