You might be thinking that plantar fascitis is just a foot issue, but did you know that your plantar fasciitis didn’t start in your foot? It started in your lower back.

You’ve tried orthotics, better shoes, stretching, foot massages, rest.
Nothing lasts.
Here’s why: You’re treating the symptom (foot), not the root cause (spinal compensation).

Your feet are at the END of the kinetic chain. Everything above - ankles, knees, hips, pelvis, spine - affects how they function.

The compensation cascade:
Lower back misalignment → Nerves from L4-S1 control your feet. When lumbar spine is misaligned, nerve signals are disrupted, muscle imbalances develop, arch collapses, plantar fascia compensates and inflames.

Pelvic tilt → One leg appears “shorter,” you bear more weight on one foot, that foot develops pain. Orthotics can’t fix the pelvic imbalance creating it.

Hip dysfunction → Gait compensates, feet work harder, abnormal forces break down tissue.

Knee issues → Altered walking mechanics, feet bear weight abnormally, chronic stress.

Your foot is just the last domino to fall.
Why treating just the foot doesn’t work?
Orthotics support the arch but don’t fix why it’s collapsing (nerve interference).
Better shoes cushion but don’t address compensation pattern.
Stretching provides temporary relief but spine keeps pulling it back.

Close your eyes for a second and notice your shoulders right now. Are they up by your ears? Is your upper back tight? Are you clenching without even realizing it?

“Carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders” - we say it casually. But your body doesn’t know the difference between metaphor and reality.

When you’re carrying emotional weight, your shoulders literally hold it.
When was the last time you felt truly relaxed? Shoulders-dropped-down, breathing-deeply, jaw-unclenched relaxed? If you can’t remember, you’re not alone.
It’s because your nervous system has been in fight-or-flight for so long that muscle tension has become your baseline.
Life stresses you out, your nervous system perceives threat - not a bear, but your brain doesn’t distinguish between “actual danger” and “overwhelming stress.” So it activates fight-or-flight response. Your body braces. Upper traps pull shoulders up. Shoulder blades pull forward. Neck tightens. You’re taking a protective posture, ready to fight or run, even though you’re just sitting at your desk. This was designed to be temporary. But when “threat” is constant (chronic stress that never resolves), your shoulders never get the signal to release.
They stay tight day after day and month after month.

You know the pattern by heart- Burning pain, that urgent feeling, rushing for another round of antibiotics.
Relief for a few weeks, then you’re right back where you started. 💧

They just keep coming back... You’ve tried everything - cranberry everything, probiotics, drinking so much water you’re practically floating. Your doctor keeps saying “some women are just prone to them.”

You’re not “just prone” to anything and your UTI problem isn’t actually in your bladder. Your bladder is controlled by nerves from your lower back and sacrum.
These nerves tell your bladder when it’s full, control the muscles that help you fully empty, coordinate your pelvic floor, and regulate your immune response to bacteria.
When your lower spine or sacrum under tension, those nerve signals get disrupted.

And boom - infection. Your immune system is also controlled by your nervous system and when the nerve flow is compromised, your defense against bacteria is weaker. We are about to challenge something you’ve been told is essential for baby sleep.
Swaddling.
Arms pinned tight.
Legs straight.
“Babies need it to sleep.” “It’s the only way to prevent the startle reflex.”

But here’s what they’re not telling you: Every time you restrict your baby’s movement, you’re restricting their neurological development.
Right now, your baby’s brain is forming neural connections at a rate that will never happen again.
And what drives that process? Movement, sensory input, touch, and pressure. The feeling of their arms and legs moving through space is good for neurological development.

Every time your baby reaches, grasps, kicks, stretches - neural pathways are forming, brain-body connections are strengthening, and their nervous system is integrating sensory information that literally builds their brain.

Swaddling stops all of that.

Arms pinned means no reaching, no grasping, no self-soothing.
Legs straight means no natural hip movement, no proprioceptive feedback.

And the startle reflex? It’s supposed to be there. It’s a primitive reflex that should naturally integrate as your baby’s nervous system matures. When you restrict it, you’re not allowing it the opportunity to integrate.

“But my baby won’t sleep without being swaddled.”
I hear you.

Babies who “need” swaddling usually have nervous system dysregulation - often from birth.

The tight wrap isn’t fixing their sleep problem- it’s masking their nervous system dysregulation. Do you notice changes in your kids behavior at this time of year? You aren’t imagining it. This time of year can be really hard on some kiddos especially as the season is changing. 🌸

If your sweet kid is suddenly melting down over EVERYTHING - wrong color cup, socks that “feel weird,” leaving the park - welcome to spring nervous system chaos.

Here’s what’s happening:
Daylight Saving Time disrupted their circadian rhythm. Sleep deprivation = dysregulation = tantrums.

Temperature fluctuations (70° one day, 40° the next) - their bodies are constantly adapting. Regulation requires stability. Spring is chaos.

Longer daylight = more stimulation = harder to wind down = overtiredness.

Seasonal allergies create inflammation even in kids without diagnosed allergies. Histamine = irritability.

Routine changes - more outdoor time, different activities.
Toddlers thrive on routine. Spring disrupts it.

Sensory overload - brighter sun, louder birds, new textures, different smells. OVERWHELMING.

Your toddler isn’t being “bad.” Their nervous system is overwhelmed.

That’s what a woman recently said at her first visit. Chronic back pain for 5 years and every specialist told her “you’ll have to learn to live with it.”

You’re doing juice cleanses, gut protocols, and liver supplements, but if your nervous system is dysregulated, your body CAN’T detoxify effectively.

Your nervous system controls your liver, kidneys, lymphatic system, and gut elimination. When your body is under stress and tension (from winter stress, poor posture, months indoors), nerve signals to detox organs are disrupted. Lymph can’t drain, gut motility slows, and your body holds onto what it should release.

If you clench your jaw at night, your pelvic floor is probably tight too.

Did you know that your jaw and pelvic floor have a direct connection to one another?

Your jaw and your pelvic floor are connected through your dura (the membrane running from skull to tailbone), your fascia (connective tissue web), and your nervous system. Tension at one end affects the other end.

When your jaw is tight, it creates tension that travels down to your pelvic floor. When your pelvic floor is tight, it travels UP to your jaw.

What this looks like:
You have TMJ pain, jaw clenching, teeth grinding AND pelvic floor dysfunction - incontinence, pain with s*x, tight hips. You’re going to the dentist for your jaw and pelvic floor PT for your pelvis. But nobody’s addressing the CONNECTION.
Your dentist gives you a night guard.
Your PT gives you exercises.

About Let It Be

At Let It Be Chiropractic, I believe that everyone should be functioning as optimally as possible and in turn, have an amazing quality of life!

I have always known that I wanted to serve people in some way and when I got called to chiropractic my mission became even greater. It’s not enough for me to alleviate symptoms for someone, I want them to actually start functioning better because that’s where true health is experienced and I believe everyone deserves to be living in a true state of health. The good Lord has blessed me so incredibly by calling me to serve in this amazing profession and I intend to do everything I can to answer His call. I am super excited to get the opportunity to serve the families of Southwest Oklahoma!
