LCHC Family First Hosts Extern

During the month of June, LCHC Family First Clinic hosted Taylor Allen, an upcoming second-year medical student at Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine at the Cherokee Nation (OSU-COM) for an externship. Students at OSU-COM are given the opportunity to participate in a Summer Rural Externship between their first and second year of medical school. During the externship students shadow a primary care physician and other medical professionals to be exposed to medical practice in a rural clinic setting. They also participate in the community by attending events and visiting local businesses. The externship shows students the life of a primary care physician in rural Oklahoma in hopes that one day they will choose to practice in this setting and help fulfill the need of medical professionals for many Oklahomans.
