Dr. Jensen is a board certified general surgeon and Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. His practice is dedicated to the surgical treatment of cosmetic concerns and varicose veins. He still maintains a very limited general surgery practice. Dr. Jensen has placed a special emphasis on helping people with body contouring, especially, tummy tuck, liposuction and brachioplasty. Dr. Jensen is the most experienced varicose vein-treating doctor in northern Utah. He was one of the first doctors in the state of Utah to employ modern varicose vein treatments, in place of invasive surgical vein treatments. He has been utilized as a consultant and national proctor for physicians learning to treat varicose veins. For years, doctors traveled to Layton, Utah, to observe Dr. Jensen treat varicose vein problems. He is the only provider caring for his varicose vein patients. This differs drastically from large vein clinics where care of patients is often passed-off to other providers.
10 years ago, Dr. Jensen was the first general surgeon in Utah to operate with and maintain a surgical practice using the DaVinci robot. He was the first robotic general surgeon in the state. He was also a national proctor for robotic surgery. Several of the general surgeons practicing robotic surgery in the state of Utah today, were proctored by Dr. Jensen. Over the 18 years he’s worked in the state of Utah, Dr. Jensen has tailored his practice to what he enjoys doing the most. He is very good at and loves creating things with his hands. This is his unique talent. He loves to make things look nice. He loves to help people with their problems. Helping people with their cosmetic concerns combines his two favorite aspects of surgery. Dr. Jensen graduated from Spanish Fork High School. He then attended Weber State University, where he graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Microbiology. He went to medical school in Kirksville, Missouri, at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. This is the founding school of Osteopathic Medicine. He did a traditional rotating internship at Doctors Hospital of Stark County, in Canton, Ohio. His general surgery residency was through Michigan State University, where he spent most of his time training in Detroit, Michigan. He is currently board-certified in general surgery and he is a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. Personal Life
Dr. Jensen lives in Layton, Utah, with his wife. He loves family, friends, music, philosophy, laughter, and enlightenment. Dr. Jensen is kind, caring, generous, funny, fun to work with and loved by his patients and coworkers. He has done nine medical mission trips to Guatemala where he has operated on over 200 patients. Dr. Jensen is uniquely empathetic with his patients and their concerns. He has battled with obesity his entire life. During medical school, his weight got as high as 427 pounds. He tried dieting for years with unproductive results. He sold the house that he had worked to restore during college so that he could pay cash for a gastric bypass. He underwent gastric bypass in the month between medical school and internship. Since that time, he has lost almost 200 pounds. He has undergone tummy tuck, liposuction, and numerous Coolsculpting treatments. He puts an emphasis on a clean diet and physical activity for healthy and happy living. He wishes this for all of his patients. He has made this journey for himself and he is here to help you make your journey.
