Damon Tackett - NASM CPT, FNS NASM Certified Personal Trainier (CPT) and Fitness Nutrition Specialist (FSN)

Hard work, dedication and personal service. That is what I am about. Inspire you.

I am certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. I was once way over weight and about to give up. I decided a change was needed, which I had done several times before and failed, but this time it was different. I found a trainer who really cared about me and my success. That is what I strive to do. Make you believe in yourself. Let you see that you can go above and beyond what you ever thought was possible.

So after 9 years I have stepped down from my role as Personal Trainer at Anytime Fitness of Leander. It has been a long crazy journey that I never would have imagined going on, but at the end of the day it is time.

I want to say thank you to some key people that were a part of that journey.

First and foremost I want to thank my trainer Kelsey Gillespie. She believed in me at a time I really needed someone to and encouraged me to use my story to help and inspire others and become a CPT. If it hadn’t been for you I honestly don’t know where I would be now.

Next I want to thank Shawn Michael Curran who as the manager at the time took a chance on a middle aged rookie. Thank you for the guidance and wisdom about making training be more than about the $ but also about finding the connection to really get through to make a difference.

The othe trainers I have worked with over the years Amanda Usselman, Cindy Flannery, Rob Evans, and many more. I learned so much from all of you. You all made me better.

And finally to all of the clients I have had over this near decade. I hope that I have made a difference in some of your lives whether out time together was long or short. And for those that have become friends, well, you all have a special place in my heart. Pete Garza who trusted in me enough to let me use him as a test subject for some of my more creative workouts. We, well you really, left a lot sweat on the mat together. Tedd Bobb for always putting in the hard work and growing. Dude your home gym is nicer than mine! When I am ready to start lifting heavy again I might need to rent some space..lol. And finally Barbara Bobb. You inspire me every workout. If I am even half as active at your age I will still be more active than most. We have been together for about 8 of those nine years!

Now is the time to really start focusing on myself to start getting back where I want to be. Another journey but this time with a lot more experience behind it.

Why do we rest between sets? Is it to make a tweet? Catch the latest Facebook cat meme?

No. Rest/recovery between sets is important for many reasons. It allows us to perform our best on every set. It allows us to reflect on the previous set (how was my form? Do I need to increase my weight for the next set? Go down in weight?). It also helps us build discipline and focus. Changing the body isn’t a sprint.
