Another Ortho Week in the books! We enjoyed celebrating all employees and their contributions to our hospital, clinics, and community. A highlight was our annual CEU event, where employees could earn continuing education credits in their respective disciplines. This year's speakers were Dr. Sean Bonanni and Dr. Dan Chernoff. We’ve had a lot to celebrate this week. We always celebrate Ortho Week the last week of October, to coincide with International Orthopaedic Nurses Day, which is today. One of the things we are most proud of is that many of our nurses have passed a special exam and obtained their certification in orthopedics, known as the Orthopaedic Nurse Certification (ONC). The organization that supports these nurses is called NAON - National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses. We are incredibly proud of the 25 nurses on staff at KCOI who have achieved this professional designation!

Nurses from KCOI Inpatient, OR, Pre-Op/PACU, leadership, Pre-Assessment, Pain and Ortho Urgent Care have all demonstrated expertise in orthopedic nursing! (13 of our 25 are pictured.) Congratulations to these nurses!

🍩🍕It has been an absolutely fantastic, amazing week…and it’s only Wednesday! We are knee-deep in our annual Ortho Week celebrations, and the icing on the cake is that we also get to celebrate our #1 in Kansas for Joint Replacement designation by Healthgrades!

And what better way to tell your employees how awesome they are ( #1) than to provide surprise donuts in the morning and send everyone out the door with take and bake pizzas in the evening!?! (That’s Dr. TJ Rasmussen with the pizza assist!)💪🏼

Our favorite week of the year is back: Ortho Week!

What initially started as International Orthopaedic Nurses Day turned into a whole week of celebrating EVERYONE in orthopedics. At KCOI, from nurses to housekeeping, patient accounts to physicians and everyone in between! KCOI is great because of our people. We would not be the place we are without you!
