One of my favorite things about music therapy is the client is in charge - it’s their favorite music that we use to improve quality of life. Today, my comfort songs are “In My Life” by the Beatles and “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran. Both these artists are my top comfort artists. Who/what are yours?

Hello, and welcome! I am OFFICIALLY open for business as Asa Grace Music Therapy!!

I am currently looking for senior living communities in middle Tennessee with whom I can partner to bring Music Therapy services to their residents.

Here are some of the services I can provide:

Group Music Therapy Examples
o Music and Memories – Singing and recreating residents’ favorite music and reminiscing on their past experiences, bringing a fun, social group dynamic.
o Drumming – Playing in rhythm together, using percussion to help residents express themselves, bringing light physical movement through fun musical engagement, memory recall with familiar tunes, and more!
o Music and Movement – Engaging in seated exercises to bring boosts of energy, reminiscence from familiar songs, and social interaction.
o Hymn Singing – Connecting to personal belief systems, calling on a higher power for comfort, and participation in corporate worship in their own living facility.
o Music BINGO – A cool new twist on a classic! Fill a BINGO board by listening to song lyrics as opposed to letters and numbers.
o Name That Tune – A unique approach to memory recall through the use of recorded music, songs within a theme, and musical trivia from several past decades.

Individual Music Therapy Examples
o Social engagement through song re-creation, singing and playing favorite songs
o Musical improvisation for self-expression
o Therapeutic songwriting for legacy building, expression, and emotional connection with friends and family
o Music and relaxation for anxiety and pain
