When you’re looking for a new doctor, the first question most often people ask is:
“Do you take my insurance?”
It makes sense. The healthcare machine has trained us to think about coverage first.
But what if that’s actually the wrong starting point?
Insurance answers the question: How will this be billed?
It does not answer:
• Will this doctor listen to me?
• Will I feel rushed?
• Can I reach them when I need them?
• Do they see me as a person or a chart?
• Will they partner with me long-term?
Choosing a doctor is choosing a relationship.
You wouldn’t choose a babysitter, therapist, or financial advisor based solely on whether they accept a certain payment method. You’d ask about trust, communication, experience, and alignment.
Healthcare should be no different.
Instead of leading with insurance, try asking:

In 2016, with nearly 20 years of healthcare experience, Dr. Robert Steves III and his family established The Town Doctor® as the first step towards making high quality primary & wellness care more accessible to the community. Our practice focuses’ on people, and intentionally putting health before medicine.
