🧔 Gratitude Starts Small 🧔

This November, let’s help our little ones find joy in the small things!
Encourage your child to share one thing they’re thankful for each day — it could be a favorite toy, a friend, or even their bedtime story. šŸ‚

Building gratitude early helps children grow into kind, mindful adults. šŸ

šŸŽƒ Happy Halloween from Lebanon Pediatrics!

šŸ‘» Before your little ghosts and goblins head out for trick-or-treating, here are a few Halloween safety tips.

šŸ•Æļø Costume Safety: Choose light-colored costumes or add reflective tape so your child is visible at night. Make sure costumes fit properly to avoid trips and falls. Use face paint instead of masks to keep vision clear.

šŸ¬ Trick-or-Treating Tips: Always have an adult accompany younger children. Stay on sidewalks and cross streets at corners. Only visit well-lit homes and never enter a stranger’s house.

🧔 Candy Check: Inspect all treats before eating. Avoid homemade goodies from people you don’t know. Everything in moderation—remind kids to enjoy sweets but brush and floss afterward!

šŸš— For Drivers: Be extra cautious and drive slowly - excited kids may dart into the street.

Wishing everyone a fun, safe, and spook-tacular Halloween!

Two infants in Kentucky have died of pertussis (also known as whooping cough) in the past six months. According to CDC data, reported cases increased to 12,513 in 2025, up from 7,321 in 2024. Pertussis is a highly contagious infection of the lungs that can cause serious health problems in small children. Vaccination is the best way to prevent whooping cough with the DTaP vaccine given at 2 months of age, with subsequent doses at 4 months and 6 months, and boosters at 15-18 months and 4-6 years. Lebanon Pediatrics is truly fostering a love for reading and learning from an early age with the Reach Out and Read Program. Providing high-quality books at each well visit can spark imagination and lifelong learning. We are so happy to do this for our patients.

Reading with infants and young children can strengthen their relationships with their parents and caregivers and help support brain development. A new policy from AAP says pediatricians should encourage parents to read with their children from birth. Research shows reading together at young ages can build the foundation for language and cognitive development and help set the stage for school readiness.
