West Central Behavioral Health

West Central Behavioral Health Providing a full range of care for individuals struggling with mental and behavioral disorders since 1977.

As a nonprofit, we're dedicated to ensuring access for all throughout the Sullivan and lower Grafton Counties of NH. West Central Behavioral Health was established in 1977 as the state-designated community mental health organization for lower Grafton (Upper Valley) and Sullivan Counties. With outpatient behavioral health clinics in Claremont, Lebanon and Newport, NH, our caring and compassionate clinicians offer individual, relationship, family and group therapy, and psychiatric care to clients of all ages for mental illness, substance use disorder, and crisis care. In addition to traditional therapeutic services, West Central’s Mobile Crisis Response team responds to mental health crises 24/7/365, including calls from police departments and local schools dealing with tragedy or loss. With our expert help, clients find new ways to deal with recurring problems, and learn new ways of handling negative thoughts, feelings and behaviors. As a result, clients often feel healthier, happier, and more in control of their behavior and their life. We also help clients with severe and persistent mental illness work toward recovery and optimal health in all domains, including entering the workforce, activities of daily living, interpersonal functioning, and resilience. Comprehensive case management services provide a thorough therapeutic plan and community-based services to increase overall functioning, gain confidence and learn skills for managing difficult or emotional situations.

Our Story

West Central Behavioral Health was established in 1977 as a state-designated community mental health organization. We maintain outpatient mental health clinics in Lebanon, Newport and Claremont, where clinicians offer individual, relationship, family and group therapy, and psychiatric care to clients of all ages. In addition to traditional therapeutic services, West Central’s Emergency Services team responds to mental health crises 365 days a year, including calls from local businesses and schools dealing with tragedy or loss. Substance use disorder services are offered at our new Claremont Substance Use Services Clinic, and are also offered as an adjunct to other services at other WCBH sites. Therapeutic treatment can improve one’s ability to cope with daily stress. Clients find new ways to deal with recurring problems, and learn new ways of handling negative thoughts, feelings and behaviors. As a result, clients often feel healthier, happier, and more in control of their behavior and their life. We also help clients with severe and persistent mental illness work toward recovery and optimal health in all domains, including activities of daily living, interpersonal functioning, and resilience. Comprehensive case management services provide a thorough therapeutic plan and community-based services to increase overall functioning, gain confidence and learn skills for managing difficult or emotional situations.
