The Lebanon Seasonal Shelter will open on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 160 Mechanic Street in Lebanon, NH. The Shelter is a collaboration between the City of Lebanon and the Upper Valley Haven.

The landline phone number is: 802-478-1862. Please note that staff are on site only from 4:00 pm – 8:30 am.

The shelter is low-barrier, meaning all individuals 18 or older are welcome to access the space. Guests must be able to manage activities of daily living independently.

The shelter can serve a maximum capacity of 14 guests. Guests will sleep in one room, with a partition separating each cot; one guest per cot area. Couples will not be able to share a space.

The shelter operates seven days a week. Doors open nightly at 5:00 p.m. and close each morning at 8:00 a.m.

Monday through Friday, cot sign-up will take place at the TLC Resource Center, which is open until 5:00 p.m., so shelter guests who have signed up for a cot have a place to stay until the shelter opens. The TLC Resource Center is located at 24 Hanover Street, Lebanon, NH. On Saturdays and Sundays, cot sign-ups will take place at the Lebanon Seasonal Shelter.

Cots may not be reserved by phone, sign up is required, and no referrals are necessary.

Providers working with an individual after 5:00 pm should call ahead to check on bed availability.

Guests will receive support from Haven staff and volunteers, with two staff members working each shift and volunteers present during check-in and dinner service.

With staff support, guests will complete an intake assessment. Guests will be referred to local partner agencies to address needs and goals appropriately.

Once the shelter is complete for the night, NH/VT residents will be assisted in obtaining a hotel room, subject to availability. Staff support will be provided.

Well-behaved and immunized service and emotional support animals are welcome.

A hot dinner will be served nightly, and to-go breakfast items will be available each morning.

Clean linens, towels, and pillows will be provided nightly. Hygiene supplies are also available. Guests will have access to hot showers, accessible bathroom facilities, and Wi-Fi.

On-site secured storage will be provided for guests’ personal belongings. Guests can store up to two bags.

Guests cannot possess fi****ms, knives, or other items that could be used as weapons on or in the shelter property. Substances (alcohol/drugs) cannot be brought into the shelter or used on the property.

The health effects from cyanobacteria depend on the amount someone is exposed to, how they are exposed, whether toxins are being produced, and the type of toxin.

People may get rashes or other skin irritations from coming into contact with blooms. Usually these skin irritations are not associated with toxins, but from other compounds in cyanobacteria cells.

Breathing in water droplets with cyanobacteria or toxins may cause allergic-like reactions, runny noses or sore throats.

Swallowing water with high levels of cyanobacteria toxins may cause:

Severe stomach problems like abdominal pain, diarrhea and vomiting
Liver damage, which may take hours or days to show up in people or animals
Numb lips, tingling fingers and toes, or dizziness

Anyone who has health concerns should talk with their health care provider.
