Here is just a little guide to help you pack for HOSA SLC:
Toiletries: Medications in labeled containers, toothbrush/toothpaste, face wash, hair brush, makeup, etc.
Electronics: Phones, chargers, computers, portable charges, etc.
Snacks (If you don’t want to buy all your food at state + a microwave isn’t guaranteed so keep that in mind + there may be a small mini fridge in your room):
Chips, chocolate, crackers, slim Jim’s, any beverages, etc.
Official dress (PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK YOU PACKED THIS): Black/navy blue dress pants, white button down, blazer, black or navy close-toed shoes (we don’t prefer you wear heels because you’ll be doing lots of walking)
AND if your competition requires any specific dress (examples: scrubs or business suit)
Competition-specific materials: Most competitions (if you are taking a written test or not) require #2 pencils, a photo ID, or required tools, props, portfolios, copy of your event guidelines, models, or instrument…SO MAKE SURE TO BRING THESE!
Shoes: Make sure you have your walking shoes (close-toed like sneakers or vans etc)
Clothes: While you’re not in your official dress, you’ll need to wear school appropriate clothes. Jeans WITH NO HOLES are required for the Fun Night Activity.
Money: Bring a good amount to spend on the food court because it can get pretty expensive. The food stands in the conference center only take cards.
Pillow/blankets: The bus isn’t very comfortable…so extra comfort is nice. You can also bring it into your hotel room incase it gets cold at night.
If you have any questions at all, PLEASE reach out to an advisor or any HOSA officer! We want everyone to feel prepared and stress-free going into SLC. Can’t wait to see everyone compete at State!
