Great news! The deadline for our MCH Systems Assessment has been extended through the end of April! You still have time to make your voice heard. 📣

Your input helps decide how funding and resources for maternal and child health get directed to OUR area. Things like prenatal care, postpartum support, and health services for our little ones. A few minutes of your time can make a real difference for families right here at home. Your input WILL be used!

The Growing Together Community Garden in Tazewell, VA, has community rows and raised beds available to help you start the season right 💪

Gardeners can officially garden after attending an orientation meeting with the Garden Manager, paying required fees, and reading/signing the 2026 Community Garden Manual. Rows & raised beds will no longer be available after the official gardening season starts (April 10th).

Each year, SAARA of Virginia’s Peer of the Year Award recognizes a peer recovery specialist who has gone above and beyond to support individuals, families, and communities on the path to recovery. Peers play a vital role in offering hope, connection, and lived experience to those navigating recovery, and we are proud to celebrate their impact across the Commonwealth.

This year, we received an incredible number of heartfelt nominations from across Virginia. After careful consideration, we have narrowed the field to 10 outstanding finalists who represent the compassion, dedication, and leadership that define peer recovery support.

We also want to recognize all peer recovery specialists across Virginia who show up every day to walk alongside others in recovery. Your work strengthens communities and changes lives.

Eligibility includes:
🔹 U.S. citizenship or national.
🔹 Residency in Virginia for at least one year.
🔹 Eligibility for in-state tuition.
🔹 Possess a high school diploma or General Educational Development
(GED) certificate.
🔹 Acceptance/enrollment as a full or part-time student in a school of nursing in Virginia.
🔹 Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.50 on a 4.00 scale.
🔹 Demonstration of financial need, verified by the Office of Financial Assistance at the applicant's school.

Submit a completed application and a recommendation from the program director. Email incentiveprograms@vdh.virginia.gov if you have any questions. Applications are open March 2 – April 2, 2026.
