After an extensive hiatus, I am slowly getting back to the land of lactation and doula work. It has been a long and hard few years filled with lots of unexpected things. I am grateful to be feeling ready to (slowly) get back to it!

To kick it off, I have decided to do World Breastfeeding Week photos once more! We will start with Saturday, and see how it goes! If interest is peaked, I will add more dates and locations as my schedule allows.

Please rsvp ASAP! And please share!

Friendly reminder that it is totally normal for your baby to feed more frequently than every 2-3 hours (but if you’re baby is feeding continuously, not gaining or producing an appropriate output, please seek lactation support!) !!

It’s international day of the midwife! A very VERY special day, to show extra gratitude, love, and celebration to some of the hardest working and most incredible people in the world. I am blessed to know many, and bare witness to the changes they are making. 💗 happy day, friends. Thank you for all you do! ✨

Things have been so quiet on here! After back to back illnesses took down our family for months (making it damn near impossible to support anyone in person), we got the surprise of a life time! We lost our beloved baby Dimitri at the end of 2019, and are so blessed to be expecting our rainbow baby this fall. It has been one hell of a ride so far, emotionally, and I know will likely continue to be until this baby is in my arms! Pregnancy after loss is one of the hardest things I have ever experienced. I plan to start sharing information for other families and their support systems to learn what to expect and how to best hold someone in pregnancy after loss.

We cannot wait to meet you, beanie baby!

-Ayurvedic Postpartum Rice Porridge-
Have you had it?

Sweet, “spicy”, warming, delicious, and sooooooo high in the nutrients that are needed after birth and I’m the postpartum period!

It’s one of my favorite things to make, and definitely one of my favorite things to eat! 🤩

THE CHILDREN OF NEW HAMPSHIRE NEED YOUR HELP!

I’m sure every single virtual friend of mine has a child in their lives, in some capacity. I’m hoping my friends, family, and neighbors will help us support this bill. While still not best practice, our children, as a whole- as a collective, deserve to be as safe as possible in the car. If we can pass this bill to legally require children under 2 to remain rear facing in motor vehicles, we can not only save lives, but also begin to instill higher motor vehicle safety standards. I have hopes that if we can pass this, we may be able to open some more eyes to best practice (rear facing to max of car seats limits)! Our children deserve better, and sometimes that includes adults/caretakers unlearning/relearning car seat safety.

****Senator Fenton would like to ask you to consider supporting SB 118-FN.

SB 118-FN = requiring children under the age of 2 years to be restrained in a rear facing car seat in a motor vehicle

“This bill’s main concern is the safety of our children and ensuring that we have made all the appropriate steps in protecting our children in the event of a car crash. As we saw in the 2022 study committee, rear facing car seats are more effective in supporting our children’s overall safety compared to other options. Your support and testimony in support of this bill will greatly aid in making sure our children are protected to the fullest in the event of a car crash ” – Senator Fenton

This bill is scheduled to be heard by the NH Senate Transportation committee on Tuesday, January 24th, 2023, at 1:15 in LOB Room 101.

If you would like to attend this hearing or email testimony in support of this bill you can email me at Nikolas.liamos@leg.state.nh.us

Sometimes you need to borrow mums work bo***es so you can practice latching & feeding your baby! My assistant today stole these after I did a little virtual help video (that she was also *so* helpful during)! Happy New Year, Ladybird friends and families! It’s been an honor to serve you all and watch your families grow! Here’s to 2023, a year that will be filled with even more bellies, babies, and bo***es! ✨🎉🤟🏻

I often get asked what bottles I recommend for breastfeeding babes. My favorite are Lansinoh mOmma, or evenflo balance wide neck! Why? Because I can get a latch like THIS with a tight & tied baby! Do you see the position that I’m feeding her in? This is how I generally teach my families to give their babies bottles. It’s called paced feeding and it is super important for ANY baby, but especially for a breastfed one. Having baby upright, bottle parallel to the floor, slowest flow ni**le (no matter their age), ideally one of the bottles mentioned, and only filling the ni**le half way. Taking a break every ounce (some babies need more frequent breaks) to burp and re latch, and generally only giving 1-1.5 ounces of breastmilk per hour. When I latch a baby on a bottle, and what I teach to my families, is very similar to how I have them latch on the breast. We point the bottle ni**le up towards the nose, have baby lean back a bit, GAPE and then get that nice deep latch. I do not just shove the ni**le in their mouthes, or have them slurp it in- I make them work for it, and have the majority of the bottle ni**le in their mouth, as they would to get that optimal breastfeeding latch. It’s super important, regardless of formula or breastmilk, to follow babes cues and feed the amount they want. “Clean plate club” mindset translates to care takers wanting to ensure that a baby finishes their bottle. This can lead to tummy upset and over feeding-Take it slow, follow their lead, and happy feeding! 💗

I’m so blessed to witness the families that I do. I’ve been honored to support a wide variety and family dynamics, but I’d be lying if I said watching partners care so deeply about their baby and birthing parent doesn’t absolutely melt me each and every time. It never gets old, and I usually cry happy tears at least once on my drive home. I love witnessing all of your love! ✨

Hey friends! Coming back at you with a need, once again! One of my mamas needs these items, to optimize feeding and improve tongue function and strength. It’s kind of crazy how hard buying these extra little tools, or preferred/optimal bottles, can be for families. I’ve personally been there and it’s so hard to ask for help! It shouldn’t be hard/not possible for our families to get what they need!!! If you have these items (SLOWEST FLOW LANSINOH NI***ES!) and are ready to pass them on, OR want to contribute to them, comment or shoot us a message!
As always, thank you all endlessly!
Be Well,
Dev

Filled with endless gratitude. I had not a thought in the world that within 15 hours of sharing, we would have a hands free pump purchased new for the Mama in need. We also have freezers full of milk coming our way. Huge shout out to a wonderful woman named Nancy, who purchased this pump outright. She wrote the following to me: “I'm so glad I saw your post and so honored to contribute to the community working to "feed all the babies" (in my very very small way)!…I hope she is also able to find some donor milk. My daughter is a "super-producer", so donates a lot - but unfortunately lives on the west coast. I'm glad to help a mama out that hasn't been so fortunate.
My daughter's youngest is on the verge of being done now, but she mentioned to me recently that part of the reason she continues to pump is that there is such a huge need for donor milk.” We are so grateful for you, Nancy, and for your daughter who helps feed all the babies out west!

To the other very kind mamas who have contributed, thank you SO MUCH! We will be purchasing her supplements ASAP with those funds! You mean the world to us.

This community has always come through in one way or another. I am endlessly grateful to you all, and honored to harbor space for blessings like this to occur.
✨✨✨
Be Well & Thanks Always,
Dev
