The Sexual Assault Resource and Counseling Center (SARCC), works together with our community to prevent sexual violence and promote healing for those who experience it. Established in 1983, SARCC provides counseling, advocacy, and community action that will prevent the perpetration of sexual violence. Our work will change the culture of the community, with an end result of having a community that is ready to provide affirming, trauma-informed responses to sexual violence and the skills needed to promote resilience and prevent perpetration. The services provided at SARCC are no-cost, and available to community members of all ages, genders, and identities.

19 years ago today, I went to JSC for my second day of work, to shadow my co-worker, which had some trouble on icy roads and never made it to school that day!

From that day on I have been on my own; as "The Good Touch / Bad Touch Lady".

The holidays can be a joyful time, but they can also be overwhelming for survivors. If you’re a friend or family member hoping to offer support this season, your compassion matters more than you may realize.

Here are a few gentle ways to help:
Be present without pressure. Check in with a simple “I’m here if you need anything.” Quiet, consistent support can feel grounding during a stressful season.
Respect their boundaries. Survivors may choose to skip certain gatherings, leave early, or take breaks. Honor these decisions without questioning or guilt.

Ask what support looks like for them. Every survivor’s needs are different, but you can help them stay in control of their comfort and choices.
Your kindness, patience, and willingness to listen can help create safer, more supportive spaces during a time that may feel complicated for many survivors.
