Congratulations to our own Dr. Benjamin Lambright, featured by Lions World Vision Institute for his work teaching advanced corneal surgery techniques at American Academy of Ophthalmology 2025! His dedication is inspiring and we are so grateful to have him on our team!

LWVI wet labs provide cornea surgeons with hands-on training in EK and CAIRS techniques to advance skills in corneal reshaping for patients with keratoconus, .

“We had a great show at AAO with Lions World Vision Institute and had the opportunity to train and connect with surgeons from across the globe during wet labs on Endothelial Keratoplasty and CAIRS Keratoplasty for patients with keratoconus.”

Memorial Day is for honoring and mourning the U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. It is observed on the last Monday of May. WCEI - remembering those who who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

Have you met Steve? He not only gives excellent patient care in our Inverness Optical Shop, but he lends his gifts and appreciation to our military as well. Let's get to know him a bit:

Almost a year, but I've been in the Optical field for over 35 years.
𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞?
I enjoy crafting military airplane models.
𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢z𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐧j𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞?
I was 9 years old and my family was stationed in Alaska - my father was a career Air Force man - that's when I built my first model airplane. It was a B-17 Bomber.
𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐚𝐲 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐫𝐚f𝐭𝐞𝐝? 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞?
I have crafted well over 100 models. I do my research - trying to find pilots with good stories then duplicating their plane. I will have decals specifically made for the plane to honor that pilot when possible.
𝐃𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚 f𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐲?
Easy - the F4U Corsair. It's a really cool looking plane!
𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐖𝐂𝐄𝐈?
So many of our patients are Veterans - I thought it would be wonderful to honor our military and thank the many Veterans who come into our office.
