Good news for dental practices! 🦷
MetLife has agreed to revise its recoupment policies following concerns raised by the ADA. This is a step forward in protecting providers from unfair refund demands and strengthening transparency in insurance processes.

The ADA had received reports of the company reducing payments owed to dentists to recoup overpayments allegedly made to other dentists.

🔁 Shared networks can keep your PPO rates active—unless you opt out everywhere. And yes, that can mean multiple opt-outs.

A practice we spoke with recently had no idea they were still “in-network” with a plan they thought they dropped. 😬

Turns out, they never fully opted out of the shared network tied to that PPO—so their discounted fees were still active, and they were locked into it for another 12 months.

This kind of thing happens more than you’d think.

If you’re reviewing your PPO participation this year, check the fine print—and the opt-out timing. It’s not always spelled out clearly.
